My name is Vemalan Pillay, my current place of employment is at Coventry Group of companies in which I work For Value Scholastics and Ragsta shipping. I have many years experience in the field of shipping and logistics as well the dynamic aspects of clearing and forwarding.
I completed my International Trade in shipping and have completed the national certification in
freight forwarding and customs compliance.My results was very good so they offered me a internship at the shipping line and gave me a full paid bursary. Whilst Working at MSC I also gained experience in
working with people and how to interact better as everyday you are to interact with fellow workers
to emphasize your work capabilities.
I am a dedicated and eager young lad who is ready and willing to be a part of your company. I am a
conscientious and enthusiastic person, always wanting to learn and use my ability to the fullest. If
given a chance to explore in the different fields then sky is the limit. I am a firm believer of
“HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY”, so whether I work under supervision or not I am honest and
dedicated to my duties at all times. If I am considered as a favorable candidate for the applied
position then I promise to be an asset to the company and a role model to the ones around me.

Responsibilities
I am responsible for making new orders overseas with different suppliers. Ensuring that all Pro Formas are correct before confirming the deals.
Once the goods are ready ,I deal with forwarders in the Country of origin to find pricing on inland transport and costs as well as the associated shipping line Ocean freight charges but depending on term of Incoterm sale such as FOB,EXWORKS.CIF,we ensure that the supplier meets all requirements in this type of sale.
Once the Goods arrive at the port of destination, engage with accounts department to settle suppliers Invoice to receive the telex release.Liase with sister company regarding the Sars customs release.

I am in charge of checking all the relevant shipping documents in order to register the file, tracking the eta of the vessel to prep the file. Drafting of the bill of entry with correct CPC code and ensure all is correct before submitting EDI to customs for SARS release. Apply to the shipping line for Arrival notifications as well as Landside Charge requests. To settle all relevant bills and process the cargo dues on the Order to cash portal. To make the Final transport instruction for the shipping line in order to receive the final release and to which transporter will take the goods for delivery to the customer. Also to mention the negotiation of best ocean freight prices with the best possible lines to maximize the gain in cost effective processes.All containers going over border I liase with the relevant agents in order to Process Lra Paperwork etc.Ensure the POD is captured and we liase with client on a excellent turn around time
Overall I am involved in the whole supply chain activity as I am starting the process of shipping and doing the final process to the customer,
