About Irene Grobbelaar-Lenoble:
I have over 9 years’ experience in the academic field and have a true passion for education and always strive to ensure a rewarding yet challenging environment for my students to drive them to their full potential. I have extensive experience in curriculum development and educational pedagogy. I was HOD of Visual Studies at the Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography and am currently lecturing at UNISA and CPUT.
I believe my experience and approach to education will make me a good fit for the position as I am a team player always endeavouring to deliver my best for students and pride myself on creating a work environment where individuals can excel. I lead by example and am naturally empathetic and intuitive to students and colleagues needs, their success and development is always my focus. My approach to education and lecturing is empathetic and intuitive, I structure my lessons to suit my students specific needs and utilise interactive lesson aids (visual, group work, technology) to make for engaging lessons and inspire good class attendance. A flipped classroom approach is used, I don’t believe in just providing students with information, I structure curriculum and semester planning so that the students have input into their education process and I at times can act as a navigator for their academic journey. I have extensive experience in programme management and am meticulous by nature, excellent time management and have been working in an online environment for the past 4 years. I have over 7 years experience in lecturing Visual Communication at university level and I tutor media studies and the South African landscape at UNISA.
I intend to pursue my PHD studies part time in 2024 and I believe this will put me in an even better position to be an asset as a lecturer. I have a background in both theory and practical, and I believe this makes me a well-rounded academic that is comfortable and capable in both disciplines and well suited as a quality assurer, a role I fulfilled at the Stellenbosch Academy.
I attach my CV for your kind consideration and look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
Irene
