About Ilana Boshoff:
I have been in the HR Generalist field for over twenty years in various roles from HR Assistant to HR Consultant. I have worked in the medical field and at present I am working in the manufacturing logistics field. My family needs to relocate to George as my husband obtained a position there. My interests outside of work include road running, hiking and other outdoor activities. I believe it is important to have a good work life balance in order to be the best version of yourself and to deliver the best service possible.

I am currently the Human Resources Officer at DHL VW. DHL VW we provide line supply logistics function to Volkswagen motor manufacturer.
In our HR Department we are 3 HR Officers each responsible for the full generalist function for approximately 300 employees. This includes recruitment, selection, onboarding and offboarding, absenteeism, employee relations (counselling, discipline, employee opinion surveys) and certain reporting functions allocated to each one.
Medical Forum Theatre
I was the Human Resources Officer at Medical Forum Theatre from 01 June 2016 – 30 April 2021. MFT is a small Private Day Hospital. I was the only person in the HR Department and as such I was responsible for the full HR function.
My duties included:
- EE & HWSETA Reporting.
- Training and development – gather & consolidate training needs, planning, budgeting and arranging.
- Employee benefit administration including provident fund, medical aid etc.
- Remuneration and payroll administration.
- Climate survey and change management.
- Strategic and succession planning.
- Employee relationship management and problem solving, disciplinary enquiries and grievances.
- HR Policy review, consultations with Management and buy-in discussions with staff.
- Launching a new time and attendance system.
- Recruitment and selection.
I served on various committees such as: Operations Management Committee, Infection Prevention and Control Committee, Employee Relationship Committee and Employment Equity Committee.
Consulting
From April 2015 until May 2016, I worked as Personal Assistant for my husband who was a Financial Planner and I did HR Consulting. When I did consultation work I presented training, compiled job descriptions and did staff planning.
Netcare Greenacres Hospital
I was the Human Resources Officer at Netcare Greenacres Hospital from 01 August 2007 until 31 March 2015.
My duties included:
- Recruitment and selection.
- Remuneration and payroll administration.
- Disability and death claims.
- Arranging training.
- Contractual obligation administration of employees who studied via the employer.
- Reward and Recognition Programme.
- Employee Wellbeing.
- Industrial Relations.
- Assisting HR Manager with delegated tasks and standing in for him when he was unavailable.
When I left Netcare Greenacres Hospital there were no foreseeable opportunities for promotion so I made the choice to assist my husband with his business and spend more time with my two sons.
Netcare Cuyler Hospital
I was employed at Netcare Cuyler Hospital as the Human Resources Assistant from 01 November 2000 – 31 July 2007 before I was promoted and transferred to Netcare Greenacres Hospital.
My duties included:
- Roll-out with ISD of the Kronos Hands-on Time and Attendance System, maintaining and assisting managers with the time and attendance system.
- Assisting with payroll input and leave administration and recording.
- Handling Injury On Duty reporting.
- Doing all employee filing.
- Arranging the monthly Carer of the Month function.
- Assisting the employees and managers with general queries.
A promotion to Netcare Greenacres Hospital was my reason for leaving Netcare Cuyler Hospital.
