Giordano Lupini

My name is Giordano (Gio) Lupini and I am an aspiring Data Analyst from Cape Town, South Africa. 

I fell in love with data analysis during my career as a professional racing driver, where data analysis was crucial to find those last few tenths of a second, and win on track. 

I have earned a BCom in Marketing and Management Science degree in 2023, and I have since completed multiple online courses including Google's comprehensive ‘Data Analytics Professional Certificate’. 

I have also gained crucial data analyst experience through an internship at a motoring publication called ‘The Auto Page’, where I was given the task to analyse more than a decades worth of performance test data from over a thousand vehicles tested since the company began recording it's data. I thoroughly enjoyed the process, made some exciting insights, and learned a ton along the way. 

My analytical mindset tends to come through in my hobbies such as golf and weight-lifting. With both of these hobbies I find myself turning to analysis as a crucial way to improve over time. To me, finding insights through analysis is highly satisfying, and that's why I'm convinced that a career in data analysis is right for me!

Data Analysis Internship: The Auto Page: July - September 2023

• Was tasked with finding as many insights as I could from a dataset consisting of over a decade's worth of performance test figures for more than 1000 vehicles.
• Collected, cleaned, analysed, and presented the findings to the relevant stakeholder (CEO).
• Analysis was done using advanced functions in Excel.

Marketing Internship: Banhoek Chilli Oil: June – July 2021 

• Assisted with and learned about the advertising and promotional aspect of the company. 
• Provided helpful ideas such as the hiring of a brand ambassador to create a face for the brand. 

Management and Sales Internship: Bob-Ric Motors: Jan – Feb 2019 

• Learnt crucial business, sales, problem solving, and management skills directly from the CEO. 
• Developed a new website which increased interaction by 35% and had a positive impact on sales over the old website within a month. 

Senior Management Job Shadow Experience: Rhodes Food Group: June – July 2017 

• Was given guided tours of all the business functions at the RFG headquarters. 
• Witnessed first hand the power of effective Data Analysis in a business.
• Had the opportunity to sit in on daily and weekly meetings between top, middle and lower management. 
• Gained an understanding of how all the business functions work together to achieve long term strategic objectives.
