I am a communication professional with over 30 years of solid experience in communication, visibility and capacity building in various international organizations in Africa and Asia. Among the key activities I have been involved with are developing and implementing communication strategies. I have completed working as a Strategic Communications Expert on a Governance project funded by the European Union (EU) in Rwanda in June 2022 I have worked as Communications and Visibility Expert on the EU funded projects in Malawi and South Africa respectively. I have also worked on other EU funded projects in Eswatini and Sierra Leone, I have experience working on the World Bank funded projects that include Transforming Irrigation Management in in Nigeria in and 2017 and Waste Management (Sanitation) Project in Zanzibar in 2018. In each of these projects I developed and implemented the communication strategies among others. I also worked as Information and Communication Expert for the AU-IBAR in Nairobi, Kenya in 2010. I was involved in developing various communication products and enhancing visibility. I also worked as a Communications Specialist for the UN Women (then UN Development Fund for Women) in Dili, East Timor in 2008 where I developed a Gender communication strategy and campaigned for women’s empowerment and gender equality. I have been a Communications Advisor for Sayara International in Afghanistan on a USAID funded Counter Narcotics Community Engagement project (CNCE) in 2014. Prior to this assignment, I worked as a Communications and Outreach Advisor for the Civilian Technical Assistance programme in Afghanistan also funded by USAID after working for IFES on an election project in Liberia in 2011. Above all, I have managerial experience and skills as I have worked as a Team Leader on an environment project funded by the World Bank funded project in Zanzibar in 2018, Communications Manager for the Local Development Fund in Malawi in 2009 and Project Director on Support to Presidential election in Afghanistan funded by the EU in 2004. I have also been involved in staff and institutional capacity building in Afghanistan, Sudan and Liberia.
I have prepared reports, press releases, newsletters, success stories, case studies, event organization. I have developed communication promotional items such as banners, brochures, posters, fact sheets and conducted awareness campaigns through various communication platforms including social media to promote the projects and raise public awareness. I have also developed partnerships with various institutions including governments and the Civil Society Organisations.
