From April 2018 to the present, I have served as a Professional Trainee at the Department of Water and Sanitation in Port Elizabeth. In this role, I conducted comprehensive condition assessments on various departmental infrastructure. My responsibilities extended to the preparation of detailed technical reports outlining structural conditions and recommending necessary repair methods. I played a key role in project development by generating tender documentation, bill of quantities, and specifications. Utilizing computer-aided design software such as Prokon, I designed diverse water-related infrastructures, including valve chambers, thrust blocks, slabs, roads, embankments, and siphons. My role encompassed project management, from procurement to commission, where I efficiently coordinated material procurement and services within budget constraints. I also contributed to the drafting of structural drawings using software like Revit, PADDS, and AutoCAD.

From May 2020 to September 2021, I was seconded and assumed the position of Junior Structural Technologist at Burden Consultants in Port Elizabeth. In this role, I undertook the design of industrial and residential structures, utilizing Revit, Prokon and manual methods. My duties included comprehensive project planning, design, and scheduling, as well as the preparation of method statements and specifications for construction activities. I managed projects from inception to completion, overseeing construction activities, inspecting reinforcement, and issuing site instructions. Additionally, I conducted Dynamic Cone Penetrometer tests to determine soil bearing capacities and actively participated in site meetings with clients, contractors, and architects. My commitment to professional development is evident through my regular attendance at engineering training courses to enhance my knowledge and skills as well as furthering my studies to allow me to convert to a Pr Eng.
