Chanelle Khumalo

First and foremost, I am a metallurgy and material science graduate from the University of the Witwatersrand and have over a year experience in a coal processing plant. I have worked on multiple individual and group projects, which have allowed me to not only become a great team player and taught me how to function in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment, but it has also helped me to improve planning, time management, mentoring and organizational skills. Serving as a team leader has, in addition, given me a keen eye for identifying the strength of each team member and being able to utilize it to meet deadlines and team goals. I am a detail-oriented, trustworthy, assertive, creative, talented, team player with strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy. I am proactive, and possess the constant inclination to look for possible improvements in the work space which helps to prevent potential problems. I would like to bring my tenacity and penchant for success to an organization values and goals that align with mine.

Plant Metallurgist, Ingwenya mineral Processing-Phallanndwa colliery, Delmas 

• Monitor accuracy of density and weight meters for accurate quantification of process performance data  Documented process response under a variety of process conditions to record optimum process conditions with maximum yield and high product quality. 
• Stocktaking of all critical process related spares such as valves, nozzles polymer panels, magnetite, flocculant, caustic soda and more.
• Compiling plant production/ performance reports. 
• Training and performance tracking of all plant staff to ensure continuous productivity, safety regulations compliance and proficiency of all process operations and their purposes. 
• Testing and analysis to improve overall efficiency of the plant and plant equipment 
• Production specialist, worked closely with stockpile- and grade controller to ensure that material is processed with maximum possible yield and quality. 

Metallurgy Intern Canyon Coal-Phallanndwa colliery, Delmas 

• As an Intern I worked as an I worked as a plant operator in the manual DMS plant; Learning to control correct medium and dilute medium levels, washed sumps to recover medium. Mixing of flocculant. In the control room I was responsible plant start up, recording hourly scale readings and reporting production hourly. Did good housekeeping by cleaning control room and tea rooms and cleanup spillages around conveyors. 
• At the Automated filter press plant, I was working as a control room operator monitoring process, reporting hourly filtered cycles. Helped with compiling Month-end reports 
• At the laboratory I as an analyst, and prepared samples for analysis. And helped with doing proximate analysis of samples on a 2 hourly basis. I would report the calorific values and ash of the samples on the mine Whatsapp groups. 
• During maintenance days I would assist both the process and engineering team to ensure that the plant was available for start up by 18h00. I would clean scales, do housekeeping on the plant and assist fitters with changing pumps, pipes etc.
