Catherine Meyer

I am a seasoned, all round sales and marketing professional bringing with me robust experience in veterinary pharmaceutical sales as well as marketing and sales experience (human pharmaceuticals) in the areas of Pain (Cancer and non-Cancer), Gastro-enterology, Chronic Kidney (Renal) Disease, Dermatology, immunology and pipeline/ pre-market medicines. I have worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 25 years.                                                            

In addition to my sales and marketing experience, I bring to this role, an Onderstepoort veterinary nursing qualification, followed by practical experience in the welfare, private practice and veterinary teaching hospital environments. I also possess strong market access (human medical insurance) experience, heading up the market access, reimbursement and pricing division at Astellas Pharma (Pty) Ltd for approximately 7 years and served as a member of the company leadership team. I have extensive exposure to - and experience with Health Economics Outcomes Research. 

I am passionate about customer service and truly making a difference to the patients (human or veterinary) that I ultimately serve.

After completing a diploma in Veterinary Nursing I worked in the welfare environment (Booysens SPCA) and academia (Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital) for a combined total of 3 years, followed by a move to the pharmaceutical environment.

I  bring with me robust experience in veterinary pharmaceutical sales with Janssen Animal Health as well as marketing and sales experience (human pharmaceuticals) in the areas of Pain (Cancer and non-Cancer), Gastro-enterology, Chronic Kidney (Renal) Disease, Dermatology. Immunology and pipeline/ pre-market medicines while working with Janssen-Cilag, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Astellas Pharma (Pty) Ltd. 

I also possess strong market access (human medical insurance) experience, heading up the market access, reimbursement and pricing division at Astellas Pharma (Pty) Ltd. The department was borne 6, 5 years ago and functioned as a department of 1 until the appointment (1 April 2020) of 1 report in the capacity of Market Access Liaison (Public sector). In addition to my therapeutic area responsibilities, I was also responsible for the strategic direction of market access for the affiliate and jointly responsible for the strategic direction of the local affiliate overall, being a member of the company leadership team. I also have extensive exposure to - and experience with Health Economics Outcomes Research and in total, I have worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 25 years. 

I completed my diploma in Veterinary Nursing at Onderstepoort from 1991-1992 and and also achieved a certification in Health Economics and Evidence-based medicine through WITS and the University of Pretoria (2015 - 2016). I attended - and achieved a University exemption at Pietermaritzburg Girls High School (1986 - 1990).
