About Caseyleigh Lawrence:
Good day,
I am a young female from South Africa. I have a little girl who is almost 2 years old.
I have lived and worked in Cape Town, South Africa for the last 6 years. I am passionate about Special Needs Education. Working with a child with special needs is unique. No therapy session is the same. Therefore, I learn new skills and new ways to be a dynamic and evolving therapist.
Working in mainstream education has given me insight into what young children struggle with. As well as the gaps between mainstream education and special needs education.
Experience
I have tutored Primary School and High School learners with or without special educational needs in all subjects. I have worked in the health sector in rural KwaZulu Natal, South Africa gaining experience in paediatric and adult neurology, TB, and dysphagia. I have worked in the private sector focusing on providing low-tech and high-tech AAC devices and therapy to children and adults with special needs.
In the last 5 years, I have formed part of a Multidisciplinary Team and School Based Support Team where my role was to function as a Speech and Language Pathologist, co-manage referrals to and from the Department of Health, Department of education and other sources, take minutes for all meetings, assist with team projects, and write and edit formal letters and documentation for the team and the school.
Education
I graduated with a BSc in Speech and Language Pathology in 2015 from the University of Cape Town. I am currently a final year MBA student majoring in Educational Management and Leadership Skills.
