I am Brendon. I Was born on 09/11/1994 in South Africa, Johannesburg. I’m an extrovert and get along well with people. I can engage and work in a team as well as on my own if required to do so. I like to participate in team activities and team building to build better bonds. I also have a very diverse mindset as a person and can get along with anyone. I have a high work ethic and take my career very seriously and do it with passion. I am a hard worker and won’t stop at anything to get the job done. With that being said, I am also very family oriented and spend a lot of my free time with family and enjoying my hobbies. I am very passionate about my work and enjoy working hard to continuously seek improvement in our day-to-day processes and improving customer satisfaction. In my career so far I have learnt a lot about culture, customer centricity and ambition to name only a few. 

Absa Bank Limited/Barclays Africa Group: KYC, AML and Sanctions Consultant

July 2014–July 2018

• Ensuring that our onboarded customers are compliant in terms of local FICA Laws, Regulations and Legislations. 
• I was responsible for ensuring that customers who were non-compliant are remediated in a timely manner to meet regulatory requirements. 
• Assisted with Internal and External Audits by retrieving and preparing Audit samples. 
• Engaging with customers telephonically to request any additional information in the attempt to remediate the customer and ensuring they are compliant.
• Took responsibility of onboarding and quality assurance checks of Retail, Corporate and Commercial accounts being onboarded. 
• Responsible for meeting with stakeholders and discussing risk-based approaches remediation actions as well as streamlining processes for easier onboarding. 

IG Group:   Senior KYC Analyst and SME

August 2018–Current

• Started with IG as an Account Opening Associate where my responsibility included setting up accounts for South African and UK Clients in line with regulatory KYC/FICA and AML Requirements
• I have further trained on all EU, US, UK and APAC countries onboarding in line with local regulatory requirements for each region. 
• In 2019 I completed my Certificate in Customer Due Diligence through the International Compliance Association (ICA). 
• In 2020 I was promoted to Account Opening Analyst. 
• As an Analyst I was responsible for signing off accounts and activating accounts. 
• I have completed training on Lean Six Sigma through Nexdigm which was arranged by my company. 
• I engage with stakeholders such Sales, Compliance, and Trading Services daily to ensure smooth flow of customer services whilst ensuring compliance for the business. 
• I have conducted multiple training sessions for several EU regions as well as UK in terms of Onboarding and Signing Off. 
• In 2019 I completed my Certificate in Customer Due Diligence through the International Compliance Association (ICA). 
• In March 2022 I was promoted to senior where I mostly co-ordinate projects and quality within the KYC team. 
• My role as senior KYC analyst also requires me to attend to all internal audit and compliance monitoring findings and ensure they are remediated within the given time frames. 
• As senior KYC analyst I am also responsible for external audit monitoring findings. 
• As a senior KYC Analyst and SME I have worked on multiple CI (Continuous Improvement) projects and also worked in an advisory capacity sharing knowledge of KYC, AML and Sanctions and the associated risks and how they can be mitigated.
