I possess a Masters in Business Administration from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. I obtained B.Admin Honours degree majoring in Public Administration and Public Policy as well as a B.Admin degree majoring in Public Administration, Political Science, and Information Systems at the University of the Western Cape.
I am currently employed as a Strategy & Programme Manager in the Office of the DCEO at the Human Sciences Research Council, a role I have occupied for the past six years. My duties include high-level management of the office and administration, research support, and coordination of all functions under the auspices of the DCEO. My previous role was as a Programme Manager in the BRICS Research Centre at the HSRC with responsibilities ranging from management of the office and staff, mentoring of interns, project management, report writing, and financial management. In total, I have worked at the HSRC for over 12 years in administration and support including a role in HSD as a Programme Administrator.
I have also worked as a Provincial Coordinator working for the National Business Initiative. My work broadly included liaising with stakeholders in finding ways of creating sustainable growth and development in South Africa with a specific focus on education, skills, and schooling as well as sustainability issues on climate change. At the National Business Initiative, I also worked as a Project Officer on the Joint Initiative for Priority Skills Acquisition (JIPSA Secretariat) where my focus was on coordinating activities toward curbing the skills shortage in the country. Prior to that, I was employed at Sustainable Energy Africa where I was working as a Project Co-ordinator. My duties at this organization included liaising with cities/municipalities, provinces and national government and building their capacity so that they can deliver services efficiently and effectively to the people. I was managing the housing unit within one of the projects that I dealt with looking mainly at environmental issues, policy issues, and energy efficiency.
As a student, I was awarded a scholarship that enabled me to actively be involved in the Public Policy Partnership Programme (PPP) which aims at equipping young South Africans with skills and competencies which they can use in order to improve service delivery in the public sector.
I have good communication skills both written and verbal as well as good organisational and interpersonal skills. I am a team player who is often tasked with leading teams and providing systematic direction. I have knowledge and skills in problem resolution and I work very well under pressure. I make sure that I deliver any services as efficiently and effectively without constant monitoring.
