Entry Level Intern:

• Implemented my skills relating to ISO standards 9000, 14000 family, 17025, 26000, 31000, 45001 and 50001 by partaking in the overall quality and safety management requirements during bioprocesses to produce reliable results for clients.
• Prevented delays in production by timeously logging calls to the relevant bodies for faulty equipment.
• Validated the identification of microorganisms to be used in bioprocesses by liaising with external gene sequencing companies.
• Prevented financial and raw material losses to the company by calibrating and troubleshooting 10 L, 30 L and 200 L bioreactors during up scaling processes. 
• Produced good quality, pure products for clients using ion-exchange chromatography and tangential flow filtration.
• Quantified various biologically produced products by using, calibrating and troubleshooting the HPLC, UHPLC (obtained a certificate of competence from Anatech Instruments (Pty) Ltd) and GC equipment. 
• Trained a few incoming interns on lab processes and use of various lab equipment.
• Participated in meetings with my supervisor where my opinions were implemented regarding working efficiently during bioprocesses.

BSc Honours in Microbiology:

• Toxicology Research Project: Optimization of colorimetric metabolic assays to monitor the metabolism of the neurotoxic compound, BMAA (beta-N-methylamino-L-alanine), by environmental, food-fermenting and human gut bacteria. 
• Professional development completed in a techniques course which emphasized on the understanding, calibration and use of various laboratory equipment; including BSL3 laminar flow hoods, HPLCs, electron microscopes, measuring scales, PCR machines, spectrophotometers, light microscopes, fluorometers and pH meters.
