Practising Advocate, Member of the Cape Bar (2014-Present)

Since 2014, to present, I have been a practicing Advocate of the High Court and member of the Cape Bar. Select briefs of relevance to this application include:

• 2021: A delictual claim against a now-closed rehabilitation facility in the Western Cape relating to medical abuse and the suspected defrauding of former in-patients. 
• 2020-2021: Parallel contractual and delictual claims totalling R20 billion against Steinhoff and various of the Wiese entities arising from the 2017 Steinhoff fraud revelations. 
• 2019: Matrimonial and parental rights dispute involving abuse of a thirteen year-old child and the subsequent abuse of court resulting in the child being involuntarily detained at an unlicensed adult rehabilitation facility in Mpumalanga.
• 2018: Medicolegal delictual action relating to a hypoxic-ischaemic injury during childbirth. 
• 2016-2020: For approximately 2000 hours of this period, I worked on a malicious prosecution action on behalf of a high-ranking Major General against the Minister of Police. The dramatis personae were high-ranking SAPS officers, various former Umkhonto weSizwe intelligence operatives, apartheid security police, crime intelligence, cabinet politicians, and infamous players in local and international organised crime.
• 2014-2016: I primarily worked on commercial and residential property law matters. I drafted over a hundred opinions, letters, contracts, and drafted court papers; I also argued a number of applications (including liquidations and matrimonial matters).
• Pro-bono: As an advocate I have been involved in and conducted two pro-bono matters of relevance: an effort to free an abused child from an unlicensed adult rehabilitation centre, and a civil claim on behalf of a victim of rape by an on-duty police officer.

Litigation Paralegal (London) (2005-2008)

I spent three years working as a litigation paralegal in London, in the following roles:

• 2007-2008: Debevoise Plimpton LLP. A large-scale investigation into corporate bribery and corruption involving a major international telecommunications company. 
• 2005-2007: Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. A multi-billion pound pharmaceutical arbitration providing litigation support to a team of barristers and solicitors that primarily entailed sourcing, reviewing and indexing key and hot documents from a six million page discovery bundle.
• 2005: Winckworth Sherwood Solicitors and Parliamentary Agents. Assisted at all stages of the alcohol relicensing process on behalf of major retailers, pursuant to amended UK legislation.
