Services offered

I am a passionate and dedicated field guide with a deep respect for nature, wildlife, and the people who come to experience it. Having trained and worked in South Africa’s wild spaces, I thrive in environments that demand responsibility, awareness, and professionalism. Guiding is more than a job to me—it is a way of connecting people to the natural world through knowledge, storytelling, and genuine experience.

My background combines hands-on conservation work with strong people skills. I have experience conducting game drives, engaging with guests from around the world, and ensuring their safety while delivering meaningful and memorable encounters with wildlife. Alongside guiding, I have also taken part in practical bush work when required, which has given me an appreciation for the behind-the-scenes effort that keeps reserves functioning effectively. My earlier experience in hospitality has shaped my work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.

I am particularly drawn to Africa’s iconic wildlife and ecosystems, and I have a strong interest in photography and visual storytelling as a way of sharing these experiences with a wider audience. Looking ahead, my long-term ambition is to grow within the conservation and safari industry, continually improving my skills and knowledge, with the goal of one day being involved in my own safari business or lodge. I am motivated, adaptable, and always eager to learn—driven by a genuine passion for the bush and the people who come to discover it.

Experience

I have approximately nine months of hands-on work experience within the safari guiding environment, gained through my roles at Bundox Safari Company and Garden Route Game Lodge. During this time, I conducted guided game drives, interpreting wildlife behaviour, ecology, and conservation for guests, while ensuring a safe, informative, and enjoyable experience. I regularly engaged with both local and international guests, tailoring each experience to their interests and maintaining high standards of professionalism and hospitality.

In addition to guiding, I assisted with practical reserve operations, including occasional bush clearing and maintenance tasks, contributing to the smooth running of the lodges and the overall guest experience. This experience strengthened my situational awareness, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in the bush, while fostering a strong work ethic and a passion for wildlife conservation.

Through my time at Bundox Safari Company and Garden Route Game Lodge, I developed a solid foundation as a field guide, combining wildlife knowledge, guest interaction, and practical bush skills, preparing me for further growth and responsibilities within the safari and wildlife industry.

Education

My educational background has equipped me with a balanced combination of academic learning and practical field training. I completed my high school education in South Africa, where I developed strong foundational skills in discipline, communication, time management, and teamwork—skills that continue to support my professional growth.

I then completed my professional field guide training through Bushwise Field Guide Training, where I gained comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge of the natural environment. The programme covered wildlife identification, animal behaviour, tracking and sign, birding, ecology, geology, and conservation principles, with a strong emphasis on guiding ethics, guest interaction, and safety. Extensive time spent in the field allowed me to apply this knowledge practically and develop confidence, situational awareness, and sound decision-making skills in real guiding environments.

In addition, I pursued tertiary studies at Stellenbosch University, where I studied Industrial Psychology. Although I did not complete the degree, the time spent at university strengthened my academic discipline, critical thinking, research skills, and understanding of human behaviour. These insights have proven valuable in guest interaction, team dynamics, and leadership within the guiding and hospitality environment.
