Aaliah Achilles

I am Aaliah Achilles, I am twenty-four years old, and I was born and raised in Cape Town. Currently, I am working as an aspirant prosecutor for the National Prosecuting Authority. I have made the University of the Western Cape’s Dean Merit Awards List twice and I am proficient in both English and Afrikaans. 

Western Cape Department of Health February 2017 - January 2018 Intern/Data Capturer Reception Duties such as filing, bookings and admissions; Information Management duties such as data collection, data handling and reporting. 

Western Cape Education Department December 2021 - December 2022 Temporary NSC Examination Assistant Checking and rechecking of marks on scripts, finding and fixing marking errors on scripts and capturing marksheet totals. 

International Association of Women Judges [South African Chapter] May 2021 - October 2021 Mentee Observing Magistrate Hindley (Mentor), the various cases appearing before her, court etiquette and procedure as well as performing mock litigation.   

Street Law Society   July 2021 - October 2022  Social Media Committee Volunteer Assist in making the law easily accessible to lay persons through social media platforms by creating and posting educational content  about the law and assisting the social media  committee with  public relations matters regarding the society.  

Extended Emerging Leaders Programme  April 2022 - October 2022  Leader I developed a responsive and  responsible leadership capacity based on four  pillars, namely, general leadership - self development - sustainable support  structures and practical project skills.  Further developed various skills such as team working skills and creativity/innovation. 

National Prosecuting Authority   February 2023 - January 2024  Aspirant Prosecutor In service training with experienced prosecutors. Duties include drafting court rolls, mediating between complainants and accused persons, appearing in and running courts, deciding whether or not to prosecute decision matters and various administrative duties.
