Purpose of the Job

  • Inspect and manage manual lifting accessories and lifting tackle in line with defined frequency and SANS standards

Key responsibilities include the following:


  • Keep a record of all equipment issued and in use within the factory.
  • Keep all lifting equipment registers up to date and ensure all test certificates are filed.
  • Carry out all necessary checks/inspections as stated in the manufacture's specification/operating manual.
  • Issue equipment as and when required.
  • Keep logbook of all lifting plans.
  • Maintain up to date breakage register.
  • Ensure that routine inspections are carried out as per schedule.
  • Ensure effective implementation of security measures in Rigging section in the storeroom.
  • Ensure inspections of slings, shackles etc. are carried out according to schedule.
  • Uphold superior standards & general maintenance within area of responsibility.
  • Engage with lifting machinery inspector and track statutory inspection dates of related machinery.
  • Perform standby duties and work flexible shifts / hours as and when required based on business needs.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and lifting regulations.
  • Ability to be a selfstarter and selfmanage.
  • Proactive and driven with a keen desire to learn and apply.

Education

  • N
  • Trade Tested Rigger Artisan
  • Must have completed unit standard or similar.
  • 2 years' experience in lifting operations
  • Knowledge of lifting machinery inspections is desirable
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and lifting regulations.
  • Ability to be a selfstarter and selfmanage.
  • Proactive and driven with a keen desire to learn and apply.
