Medical Receptionist and Administrator, Pretoria


Our client, a paediatrician in Pretoria, is seeking to recruit an experienced, professional, motivated and dynamic medical receptionist and administrator to join their practice team.

The successful applicant must be result-orientated with abilities, knowledge, and skills to perform successfully in the paediatric medical field.

Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential as well as a proven track record in resolving complex patient issues and implementing workable solutions.


Responsibilities:


  • Perform clerical and administrative duties that facilitate laboratorytocaregiver information flow.
  • Assist in managing backoffice tasks: provisioning of medical supplies and care, interfacing with supply companies, and accurate filing procedures.
  • Assist in creating a welcoming setting for patients and families with warm greetings, logins, intake interviews, escorting to examination rooms, and appointment scheduling.
  • Assist in educating parents and guardians in patient treatment/care issues.
  • Implement new policies and procedures for the practice management and update existing documents.
  • Compose reports and correspondence and assist with compiling documentation.
  • Scan confidential documents into an electronic filing system and categorize them for retrieval/review.
  • Transcribe dictated letters and reports.
  • Responsible for all filing/updating/recordkeeping.
  • Assist in the maintenance of medical charts and/or electronic medical record (filing, Op
Reports, test results, home care forms).

  • Prepare folders and maintain new patient records.
  • Review medical records for completeness, compiled data, such as admissions, doctors' appointments, type of treatment given.
  • Compile medical records requested by hospital departments.
  • Audit each employee file to update incomplete and missing paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Work daily with parents/guardians from diverse backgrounds, in person, telephone, computer, mail, and social media.
  • Interact with the health community, including professional associations, hospitals, clinics, medical centres and other health organizations.
  • Assisting with tracing patient results, special investigations and all other documentation.
  • Present medications, previous hospitalizations or any other substantial physically limiting condition.
  • Ensure that EHR databases are complete, accurate, and available only to authorized personnel.
  • Obtained patient histories, vital signs, and documents in the patient's file.
  • Preexamine patient's to be examined by Dr.

Qualification:


  • Matric
  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar medical receptionist position or in a medical environment
  • Microsoft office suite experience and computer literate

Skills and attributes:


  • Deliver a high standard of patient service
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Excellent use of English and medical terminology (verbally and written)
  • Excellent at multitasking and working both independently and part of a team
  • Ability to devise and review systems for operational efficiency and control
  • Minimal skills in accounting and business reporting
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Knowledge of employment conditions

Working hours:

Monday to Friday, 08h00 - 17h00
