Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in all TB, HIV and PMTCT related support activities of Anova in Cape Town and at provincial level
  • Support the decentralization of Drug Resistant TB services in their allocated district
  • Work closely with Anova's M&E team to support data system for planning for both DOH and Anova staff
  • Attend to relevant meetings
  • Conduct facility site visits to monitor support activities, identify gaps and act accordingly
  • Provide technical and clinical support on TB, PMTCT and Paediatric HIV including TA (mentoring and coaching and training) to DoH and Anova staff as dictated by the work plans
  • Conduct PMTCT, NIMART, Basic TB and any other HIV/TB/PMTCT and related trainings that supports the current needs of the department of health as the need arises
  • Work closely with the monitoring and evaluation team to review facility data and provide feedback to clinics
  • Represent Anova Health Institute on relevant working and technical advisory bodies and at district, provincial and national PMTCT conferences and meetings as requested
  • Identify innovative projects that can be implemented to improve performance of the PMTCT and paediatric HIV programme and ensure that all project deliverables are met in a high quality, cost effective and timely fashion
  • Facilitate improvement in linkages for early infant diagnosis and ART initiation in children across Cape metro
  • Take lead in ensuring performance monitoring systems for PMTCT and paediatric HIV are operating effectively
  • Compile monthly & quarterly regular PMTCT and paediatric HIV reports for Anova, Funders and DOH as required
  • Engage and support managers at the facility, regional, district and provincial levels
  • Conduct operational research/enquiries in to order to keep abreast of PMTCT/paediatric HIV issues and add to the pool of knowledge within Anova

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required

  • Diploma with PHC (Nursing Clinician) registration with the SANC
  • Midwifery essential
  • TB diploma or additional training on TB an advantage
  • NIMART trained
  • At least five (5) years' experience with TB, PMTCT and HIV/AIDS control programs or other health issues
  • At least three (3) years' experience working in technical leadership, oversights, design, and implementation of TB, PMTCT and HIV/AIDS programmes
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and leadership in programme management, strategic planning, and policy experience
  • A valid driver's license
  • Ability to communicate technical and policy issues clearly and effectively
  • Good knowledge of Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART), TB, PMTCT and Chronic Medication and guidelines
  • Knowledge of latest HIV/TB/PMTCT guidelines
  • Demonstrated openness and flexibility in responding to changing work priorities and environment
  • Knowledge of latest HIV/TB/PMTCT guidelines
  • Knowledge of strategy and other Health related policies
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Good report writing skills
  • Flexible and resilient to change
