Introduction


We are currently seeking a results-driven Marketing Manager who will be accountable for crafting and executing the marketing mix to align with the business and brand owner's vision.

Your key responsibilities will include providing guidance and direction to Brand Managers, ensuring they meet and exceed their objectives.


As the Marketing Manager, your primary goal will be to drive national awareness, enhance brand desirability, and achieve outstanding commercial performance for a premium liquor brand.

Drawing from consumer insights, you will formulate and execute long-term marketing plans tailored to the unique needs of the South African market.


Principle Responsibilities

Lead Development of the Marketing Strategy:

  • Lead the development of the South African strategy for the brand, considering the global brand strategy (Portfolio and Brand Specific).
  • Fully understand the South African market. Identify new trends and be strongly attentive to the competitive universe and ensure understanding of premium spirit drinkers.
  • Propose, recommend, and implement action plans and initiatives in accordance with defined strategy for national implementation.
  • Ensure the performance of the brand will remain outstanding in the face of strong competition, taking relevant actions with agility to adjust and refine programs and strategies while always maintaining the highest standards.
  • Continuously raise the bar for disruptive creativity, innovation, and executional excellence.
  • Be strongly connected with the media landscape.
  • Source, inspire and direct agency partners to deliver excellence.
  • Monitor overall budgets and be able to respond to the rigor of regular reporting, recommend corrective actions if necessary.
  • Dynamic & Passionate ambassador of the brand, always seeking to strengthen the brand reputation.

Internal & Principal Relationships:

  • Build strong relationships with teams at all levels, to ensure effective execution of brand programs.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, departments, and principal partner.
  • Involve & inform brand principal through constant feedback, reporting and engagements.

People Management and Personal Development:

  • Ensure that each member of the portfolio team is clear and aligned to executing brand strategies.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring for direct report employees, providing regular feedback, and conducting checkins.
  • Monitor team dynamics and act accordingly, when necessary, to ensure good working relationships.
  • Ensure that staff adhere to the company's code of conduct and corrective action is taken in line with company policy.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • 3 years of tertiary education is required.
years of relevant experience, preferably within the FMCG/liquor industry.

  • Strong brand knowledge and understanding of brand strategy, priorities, and positioning.
  • Excellent communication and relationshipbuilding skills with internal and external partners.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • Proficiency in problemsolving, prioritization, and multitasking in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Proactive and able to anticipate needs.
  • Ability to conceptualize and negotiate.
  • Customeroriented and focused on big picture thinking.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player with initiative.
  • Endurance to tolerate extended hours.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to rapidly evolving business needs.
