Minimum Requirements in line with the bank's criteria:

  • Minimum qualification: Matric but can be graduates
  • Must be a South African citizen


  • Age between 183

  • Preference will be given to individuals from a previously disadvantaged background.
  • Have never held a fulltime position before (this is a First Job opportunity) and preferably have not participated in a learnership or internship before
  • Have not completed a First Job Programme before
  • Live within 40 kms from our offices/site, which is situated at (uMzimkhulu, Underberg (Bulwer) and Ixopo).
  • Are not currently in fulltime studies and able to attend this internship full time.
  • No family relations with the host i.e., TREE-ECD
  • Computer literacy and driver's license (Added advantage)
  • Must be comfortable travelling in the rural communities
  • Must reside and be comfortable travelling/walking within local rural communities


Smart Start Community Activators have the opportunity to play a critical role in supporting the Smart Start Programme and footprint to expand and consolidate in particular geographical areas.

The role of Community Activator is that of a localized support to Smart Start coaches and the Programme lead in facilitating, coordinating, and supporting key in-community administrative and operational functions for the Franchisor.

The role covers three main functions - supporting Programme expansion, the Smart Start value chain, and DSD registration where relevant - and will include the following tasks:


Supporting Programme expansion

  • Primary data collection (infield) for community profiles
  • Other infield data collection per Programme needs
  • Supporting franchisees in child registration

Supporting the Smart Start value chain

  • Attending and providing administrative support during Matching and Training
  • Collecting, collating, and organizing franchisee documentation (i.e., certified copies of IDs, etc.)
  • Assisting franchisees in completing necessary documentation (i.e., Form 30)
  • Assisting franchisees with child recruitment upon request and where necessary
  • Administering and assessing a prelicensing checklist for franchisee
  • Providing technological support by visiting franchisees, verifying addresses, and dropping GPS pins for uploading in Smart Link
  • Supporting franchisees and coaches in collecting and submitting attendance registers
  • Performing "mystery shopper" duties spotchecks for Programme quality and consistency in support of the coaches
  • Coordinating and organizing special trainings for franchisees where necessary (i.e., business skills, others)
  • Providing support and training to franchisees on the use of the Smart Start Chat bot.
  • Other duties as assigned to directly support coaches in the administrative aspects of their role

Supporting DSD registration

  • Where relevant, play a coordinating role in completing, collecting, collating, and submitting documents for DSD registration

Normal Working Hours: 08:00-16:00 (30 minutes break)


Stipend:
R4500


Internship Start Date: 1st July 2023


Internship End Date: 30th June 2024
