Applications are invited for the above-indicated vacancy within Newzroom Afrika. The incumbent will report to the PCR manager.The vision controller is responsible for continuous control and monitoring of studio images, calibration and matching of studio cameras, to ensure the best image quality.
Key responsibilities:
Ensure that vision control and camera equipment are operating properly before production
Aligning, adjusting, and maintaining vision control equipment, to ensure the accurate line-up of camera output and other vision facilities
Operation of camera exposure, black level, and colour balance controls, to match cameras and maintain overall picture quality during live and recorded programmes
Ensure that the picture quality of broadcast programmes is monitored live and that settings are immediately adjusted in accordance with broadcast standards.
Decisions about picture quality are made in real-time.Support and advise technical directors on vision control and best practices for TV productions, if needed.
Have a good eye, be able to spot colour and light discrepancies and know how to correct them
Have extensive knowledge of electronic technology, including lighting, exposure, colour, and optics
Have an in depth understanding of how camera equipment works and stay up to date with the latest camera technology
REQUIREMENTS:
Skills and competencies
Matric plus a relevant certificate/diploma/degree in television lighting.
A minimum of two years of experience in vision control role.
Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.
Must be an effective learner, with a curiosity and desire to learn and understand the entire scope of needs in the studio and control room.
Possess strong fundamental understanding of video and audio production equipment and capabilities.Extensive understanding and knowledge of television cameras.
Extensive understanding of different camera control units (CCU/RCP's)
Ability to follow instructions and remain professional under pressure.
Sound troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Ability to work under pressure and stay calm when things go wrong.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Professional self-starter with a growth mindset.
Good multi-tasking skills.
Excellent computer skills.
Willingness to work varied shifts.
