Position Description

The main purpose of the role is Controlling Material Transport flows from domestic & international Suppliers to Plants
Receiving, Analyzing, Processing and documenting information accurately. Evaluating Information to determine and ensure compliance standards. to be the Stakeholder's closest partner by providing them Built-in-Quality Logistics Solutions. Perform effective deviation management and transform into excellence in Operations.


Reporting:
This role reports to Transport Operations Director - South Africa.


Job Objectives:


  • Responsible for coordination with GTO-PL approved Liners, Forwarders, Transporters, Customs brokers, Overseas offices & Customers for lining up Sea/ Air/ Road Freight movements. Close coordination with Customer (Internal & External) for their day to day requirements. Monitoring end to end activities (transportation, custom clearance, freight, delivery).


  • Maintaining KPI's

  • Formalize, Record and Maintain KPI for customers.
  • Arrange structured meetings with Customers (Internal/ external) and LSPs.
  • Working closely with customers, colleagues and third parties to ensure smooth operations to deadlines;
  • Maintaining communication and control through all phases of the journey, including the Management Reports;
  • Proactively work with transportation & shipping teams to identify shipments at risk of not meeting delivery expectations based on mode, service level, miles and equipment type.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations and other factors that could affect the movement of freight.
  • Follow escalation process for deviation reporting to Material Controllers.
  • Monitoring correct usage of support Systems like ATLAS/ XTR / A4D etc. supporting Transport operations.
  • Participate & contribute to morning meetings, VPS & 5S activities.
  • Monitoring & controlling Pre-Carriage, Freight & On
  • Carriage activities & cost.
  • Communication to Overseas Volvo plants/ suppliers/ customers for Imports/ Exports flows.

Qualification & Job Experience:


  • University/college graduated.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in Foreign Trade & Transport Logistics with ability of time bound problem resolution.
  • Fluent in English & Good Communication Skills.
  • Performance Analysis of LSPs.
