Job description

  • Attend daily preplan, operational, and safety meetings
  • Allocate jobs/instructions to subordinates as per stowage of vessels and preplan meetings
  • Identify deviation from instructions and operational activities and take corrective actions
  • Attend handover meeting with the supervisor of the next shift
  • Maintain hygiene and housekeeping requirements within your area of responsibility
  • Conduct risk assessments on any new work/service/operations or when forced to deviate from standard procedures
  • Effective communication and reporting on all levels of the organisation
  • Enhance continuous efficiency and improvement
  • Supervise relevant subcontractors & service providers
  • Ensure Risk assessment and SOP training is conducted on all operational staff
  • Report all incidents, hazardous conditions, and emergencies
  • Motivate and direct personnel to accomplish targets
  • Ensure required documentation is completed before, during and after each shipment

Minimum requirements

Qualifications:


  • Grade 12/equivalent
  • Code C1 driver's license with PrDP
  • Operations/Maritime diploma will be an added advantage

Experience:


  • Min 10 years' experience in the Stevedoring industry or similar Port or shipping environment
  • Min 5 years' experience in a Supervisory role, supervising all types of Stevedoring activities

Required skills

  • Must be English literate
  • Be able to communicate at all levels
  • Be able to work under pressure and meeting deadlines
  • Be computer (MS Office suite) literate
  • High level of safety consciousness
