The Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO) is charged with ensuring that the University to utilize digital information and advanced technologies, such as the cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, automation, IoT, mobile and social media, to create value for users so as to realize the objectives of ENVISION2030.

The CDIO is responsible for the formulation, planning, implementing and managing the University's digitization strategies, investments, project portfolios and operations.


Minimum Requirements:
An NQF level 9 qualification in Information Technology/Computer Science/ Engineering

Ten (10) years ICT management experience of which 5 years at a senior management level

Proven track record in ICTS service, support and infrastructure management in a medium - large organization

Proven leadership of successful digital transformation projects

Ten (10) years experience across the ICTS value chain


Preferred Qualification:
A relevant NQF level 10 qualification


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze the DUT strategy and roadmap to determine the future trends, strategic direction and legal implications
  • Define & maintain the currency and business relevance of the ICT strategy through participation in organizational strategic planning processes.
  • Align ICT objectives and programs (infrastructure, process and systems enhancements) to enterprise objectives and priorities.
  • Define and manage the ICT Service Delivery processes and resource these with adequate capacity.
  • Lead digital transformation efforts across the entire organization.
  • Set and implement digital strategy by working with crossfunctional partners to transition from traditional to digital processes.
  • Maintain and Support Business Intelligence capability and service the business with appropriate management reporting solutions.
  • Ensure appropriate & adequate Infrastructure availability and capacity
  • Define ICT service management processes and ensure compliance to appropriate governance standards.
  • Define the objectives for ICTS in accordance with the ICTS strategy
  • Work closely with Human Resources to attract and retain top talent, and to build digital capabilities across the company
  • Analyze the business/project plan to determine the financial requirements
  • Manage ongoing security monitoring of information systems including assessing information security risk through qualitative risk analysis on a regular basis, conducting functional and gap analyses to determine the extent to which key business areas and infrastructure comply with statutory and regulatory requirements, evaluating and recommending new information security technologies and countermeasures against threats to
information or privacy, and developing security reports and dashboards
