Key Purpose

  • The main purpose of this role is to enable the business to have a high degree of assurance in data quality and to draw out insights from data to support management decision making.
  • This will be achieved by performing data & Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) audit and remediation related tasks, focusing mainly on Group Risk products and the data that feeds into pricing, valuation and other actuarial uses of this data. Over time there will also be opportunity to expand this role into the Umbrella Retirement Funds product space.
    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to
  • Analysing the applicable data accuracy as well as the system design and/or operating procedures where data issues are identified
  • Building tools to identify data issues in an automated manner
  • Analysing servicing scenarios and identifying possible constraints on product design
  • Assisting with adhoc investigations and analyses including playing a supportive role in quantifying the financial impact of possible misalignment of actuarial specification and system implementation
  • Enhancing management info, product insights, and technical marketing material using data analytics skills

Education and Experience

  • Individual or Group Life insurance 5 years' industry experience


  • MS Excel

  • Advanced
  • Database and/or statistical software experience (SQL, R, Python etc)
  • Degree in actuarial, mathematics, statistics, data science or other applicable analytical degrees
  • Knowledge of administration systems/processes in the Life insurance industry
  • Industry experience working with large sets of Life insurance data
  • Programming experience and understanding (e.g. VBA, Java)
  • Systems work or software testing experience
  • Experience in creating Management Info reports (e.g. Power BI)
