Logistics Specialist - East London, South Africa - Abantu Staffing Solutions
Description
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 /Matric
- Degree /National Diploma in Supply Chain Management or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role
- Experience within automotive supplier preferred (Highly advantageous)
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret customer EDI requirements into an effective production plan and release the same to the supplier base
- Maintain required minimum stock levels in the warehouse by ensuring correct ERP configuration of part parameters for raw materials & finished parts respectively
- Track and follow up on all inbound materials and escalate to Logistics Manager any delays at suppliers, in transit and deliveries into plant
- Coordinate inbound shipments & deliveries with shipping agents, transporters, and warehouse supervisor to ensure a smooth flow of materials into the plant
- Ensure best container utilisation to minimise unit shipping costs of all inbound materials
- Ensure early escalation to relevant stakeholders in case of any potential supply risks
- Timely submission of internal and external customer reports daily, weekly & monthly
- Assisting with stocktakes and/or cycle counts when called upon
- Form part of crossfunctional teams for Continuous Improvement, Engineering Changes, EHS, and other plant projects/initiatives
- Conduct daily production meetings to monitor production output and hold production management accountable to meet the plan on time every time
- Check finished product routings to ensure accurate material consumption to Bill of Materials
- Control returnable CHEP packaging and ensure adequate coverage to satisfy production plan and shipments to customer
- Schedule customer shipments and act as liaison with regard to matters relating to shipping
- Create shipping paperwork, including customer ASN, for every shipment accurately and timely always
- Facilitate ad hoc export shipments as required
