Role purpose:


To conduct privacy impact assessments (Privacy by Design & Assurance) of new processes, products and systems to be launched by Vodacom or changes to existing processes, products or assets to ensure that all critical and high new business risks have been identified and mitigated before any product, service, promotion or campaign is launched with Vodacom.

To verify that privacy impact assessments have been conducted for all processing activities outlined in Statements of Works (SOW) and Data Processing Agreements prior to signatures
Assist with the Privacy Supplier Onboarding Process and ensure that Supplier Inventories are created and relevant processing activities assessed.
To assist with ensuring that all third party's processing Personal Information are identified and Data Processing Agreements are initiated and maintain an up to date Data Processing Agreement register

To continuously monitor regulatory/legislative developments and trends/patterns and then assist with the updates to company policies, processes and precedures as required.

To build awareness of, and delivering training to, Vodacom business teams on personal information protection and privacy issues.
To assist with maintaining the regulatory interaction register and monitor closure of regulatory and customer complaints

Supporting the privacy operations and frontline teams in responding to enquiries relating to the exercise of data protection individual rights.


Your responsibilities will include:


Advisory

Querry Handling
Handling internal and external queries as necessary in relation to data protection and privacy.


Supplier Compliance/Data Processing Agreements (DPA)

Ensure that all suppliers involved in processing personal information are compliant & risk rated and supplier inventories are created and assessed.

An up to date register of all DPA's is available.


Complaints
Ensure and manage the timely responses to customer's complaints


Must have technical/professional qualifications:

A legal degree or NQF 7 equivalent

Additional professional relevant certification will be an advantage such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPT, or CIPM from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

A minimum of 5 years relevant experience essential, with exposure to the following:
Legal, Risk and compliance
Business process related work
Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of Vodacom
Exceptional organisational and communication skills
Experience of data protection impact assessments and contract negotiation


Core competencies, knowledge and experience:


Privacy Laws & Regulations
Indepth knowledge of South Africa's data protection laws (POPIA, PAIA)


Privacy Impact Assessments
Experience in conducting privacy impact accessments using clearly defined methodologies or tools.


Risk & Compliance

Ability and knowledge to ensure that Vodacom executes its business processes in compliance with privacy laws and regulations, applicable professional standards and accepted business practices.


Self-starter

Ability to work independently with high standard of accountability problem solving ability and owning responsibility around decisions, timelines and quality.


Business Skills & Stakeholder Management
Excellent stakeholder management skills across and exposure to working in a team environment
