Our client is urgently looking for the expertise of a Distribution Manager to join their team.
Direct Line Manager:
Logistics Director.
Direct Reports:
Distribution Supervisor, Drivers and Assistants and Distribution Clerk.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS/OUTPUTS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement the transport operational plan
- Manage the AARTO demerit system
- Management of the daytoday running of the distribution operations
- Invest in personal development
- Manage procurement, maintenance, and control of vehicles
- Manage the health & safety of the transport division
- Drive performance excellence
DIRECT STAKEHOLDERS
Internal:
Group Transport Manager Trading Managers, Traders, Human Capital, Cold Store Managers. Group Cold Store Manager, Group Food Safety Manager, Accountants, Debtors and Creditors Clerks, Business Logistics Controller, Distribution Supervisor, Distribution Clerk
External:
Customers 3PL, Service Providers, Suppliers, State Vet, Labour Broker, PPECB, Auditors
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum:
NQF level 6 Diploma in supply chain, and/or distribution logistics and/or commerce
(Recognition for prior learning (RPL) based on years of experience and knowledge gained will be granted to those already in the position).
Preferred:
NQF level 7 Degree in supply chain, and/or distribution logistics and/or commerce
Degree in Transport & Road Freight
EXPERIENCE
Minimum: 5-7 years' experience in a management role, in a high-volume Transport operation within the
frozen/chilled food industry.
Preferred:
More than 8 years' experience in a management role, in a high-volume Transport operation, within the
frozen/chilled food industry.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES/KNOWLEDGE/UNDERSTANDING
- Health and Safety Act
- AARTO Demerit System
- National Road Traffic Act 199
- Knowledge of Distribution Routes and Planning
- Basic technical understanding of refrigerated loading vehicles and loading specifications
- Understanding of how to manage a large vehicle delivery fleet (> 50 vehicles)
- Knowledge about the Food Safety Management Systems
- Basic technical understanding of vehicle maintenance and vehicle refrigeration
