Our national client in the Production, Warehousing and Transportation industry requires your experience and qualifications as a
Product Checker for one of their Bellville South operations in Cape Town.


KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPAs)

No. Key Performance Areas (KPA's)
1 Receive and check picking slip from Supervisor

2 Bins to be verified by means of counting and recorded on the stamp

3 Bin to bin form to be handed to the stock controller

4 Ensure all information is correct and accurately completed

5 To ensure Pallet count sheet, check list, loading schedules and off-loading schedules is completed and checked

6 Ensure housekeeping is up to standard

7 Verify that the picking slip is correct


JOB SUMMARY


As the product checker you are responsible for quality checks on incoming and dispatched items to verify, they meet company specifications as per company policy, training and SOP.

All our client's Work Instructions (WI), policies and procedures relevant to this job function must be adhered to, always.

Your Job description is not limited to the responsibilities below and you will be required to perform other reasonable tasks and assume other reasonable responsibilities in line with your position.


MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS

  • As a product checker you need to comply with safety requirements/PPE such as safety boots, Branded overalls, t-shirts, freezer suit, hard hat, safety glasses and ear plugs.
  • To adhere to all company policies, processes, SOP's, and work instructions, such as the Receiving and Dispatch Process and bin movements.
  • As the checker you are to receive a picking slip from your supervisor.
  • The Product Checker must record the "On Bay / Off Bay Times" field on the manual picking instruction. The purpose of this is to have a backup system in case of inaccessibility of network.
  • Ensure Bins are checked prior to commencing picking.
  • Ensure that stock is counted prior and post picking to ensure bin accuracy.
  • Ensure that the information is recorded accurately on the picking slips.
  • Ensure that the pallets picked conform to the BMWR (free of Burn holes, not kicked, free of foreign objects, do not have torn/cold shroud, and the underseal is intact) As per final Quality check sheet
  • The Product Checker accompanies the forklift driver(s) to the bin location(s) as reflected on the picking slip to verify the opening balance, bottle number and material number.
  • The product checker will verify the picking slip is correct by counting the bins and sign off once verified and no discrepancies are identified.
  • Then Product Checker cleans all the pallets and wipe the pallets with a damp cloth if they are dirty or have bird droppings and check each pallet.
  • To record the opening balance on the stamp
  • To handover the picking slip to the forklift driver
  • After the pallets are scanned by the Forklift operator an applicable sticker is to be placed on the pallet by the checker.
  • Once the Product Checker is satisfied, he/she will place a blue audit sticker (name and date) on each passed pallet at the bottom left of the pallet label.
  • Once all the pallets are loaded the Product Checker and SAP Admin will complete and sign the bottle check truck diagram and material check truck diagram respectively.
  • The checker is to record all vehicle details, such as the time arrivals, started and completed loading time, delivery note number, material, and quantity on the loading schedule.
  • Once the loading process and rejected pallets is completed, you would need to complete the material check sheet.
  • As the checker you need to verify the stock in the affected bin/s and record the closing balance on the stamp and compile all relevant documentation and immediately hand it over to the supervisor when the truck departures and ensure that the turnaround time are maintained.
  • You would need to complete a visual inspection of the pallets on the truck and to ensure that the correct material and quantity is received by the Supervisor.
  • As the checker you are to report any damages, stranger pallets and incorrect quantities detected must be reported immediately to the Supervisor.
  • Once the corner straps are removed you may write all the pallet information on the pallet check sheet.
  • The checker is to conduct a quality check process and inspection once the pallets are carefully taken off the truck and placed on the floor.
  • Other Ad hoc duties as and when required.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:


  • Must have Matric (Grade 12).
  • Experience in relevant field or warehousing (Advantageous)
  • Understanding of Health and Safety regulations.

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organized and efficient in daily tasks.
