Description

We are looking for Safety Officer to implement and evaluate risk management policies and programs, train employees in occupational health and safety procedures, monitor and audit the workplace, and investigates incidents to ensure safe and healthy working conditions and compliance with health and safety legislation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Participate in the development of safety and health policies, practices, and procedures.
Ensure company compliance with all applicable laws governing environmental Health and Safety
Exercise due diligence in Health, Safety, and Environmental Administration
Oversee and review health and safety documentation and data.
Compilation and presentation of a Health and Safety file for each site
Lead the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperate in the preparation of material for hearings and insurance investigations.
Design and train all levels of employees and hold "toolbox" talks.
Consult with all departments to provide expertise and ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards and processes.
Ensure appropriate Personal Protective Equipment is readily available and worn by employees.
Inspects the site to ensure it is a hazardfree environment.
Verifies that injury logs and reports are completed and submitted to the relevant government agencies.
Verifies that all tools and equipment are adequate and safe for use.
Promotes safe practices at the job site.
Trains and carries out drills and exercises on how to manage emergency situations.
Conducts investigations of all accidents and nearmisses
Responds to employees' safety concerns.
Coordinates registration and removal of hazardous waste
Monitor and review plans.
Responds to orders issued by the Department of Labour inspectors.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Matric/Grade 1
Registered with SACPMCP as a CHSO.
Diploma / Degree in Safety Management or any relevant qualification within Safety Management.
Minimum of 4+ years' experience in a similar role within Construction industry
Extensive experience in safety regulations.

R20 000,00 - R25 000,00 per month
