Faculty- Support / Admin Department- Department- Cape Peninsula University of Technology -> Infrastructure Development and Facilities Management- Campus/ Location- Bellville Campus - Bellville, Cape Town, WC ZA (Primary)- Job Type- Permanent- Occupational Function- Support / Admin- Number of Positions- 1- Annual Salary Package (incl.

Medical Aid rate based on principal member only)- To be confirmed- Advert Closing Date- 31/3/2024- Job PurposeTo adjust, maintain, repair, and replaces door locks, padlocks, tumbler locks, combination locks, and various other lock hardware.

The incumbent will also be responsible to ensure that the integrity and security of all CPUT assets is maintained through proper management of all the locking systems of the facilities and auxiliary equipment.


  • Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Std 8 I Grade 10 or equivalent
  • Must be registered with the Locksmith's Association of South Africa (LASA) and the Private Security
  • Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA)
  • At least five (5) years' relevant working experience doing Locksmithing tasks (experience in the construction sector will be an added advantage A valid Driver's licence
  • Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
  • Check job cards on BMJLS system and signoff jobs completed
  • Cut new or duplicate keys from existing keys, patterns, or codes
  • Install, repair, adjust and replace locks and other door closures around various buildings and facilities
  • Provide new/replacement keys and open up locks
  • Repair and maintain an existing lock systems
  • Keep accurate records of keys
  • Maintain Master key system
  • Scheduling of work and priority of works to be completed

  • Ensure that safety measure are observed & report health and safety issues.
  • Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Maintenance Foreman or Maintenance Manager.
