***- Conducting in-depth analysis of specific value chains/industries/sub-sectors within the Mining and Metals sectors, including their composition, performance, recent trends, outlook, risks and development potential, leading to strategic recommendations and the compilation of reports, publications, speeches and presentations.

Contributing to the formulation of strategies for Mining and Metals related value chain/industry/sector development.
Providing inputs into macroeconomic and sectoral forecasting.
Disseminating value chain/industry/sectorspecific research and information, both internally and externally.
Assisting in planning portfolio priorities from a sectoral perspective, including investment potential as well as associated developmental returns and risks.
Analyzing, on a continuous basis, supply

- and demand-side conditions in various industrial commodity markets and their future prospects, leading to the identification of implications for companys commodities-related portfolio and of opportunities for further/future development.

Undertaking technical analysis of the prices of various commodities (industrial, energy and precious metals), as well as of the prices of specific equity holdings within the companys listed portfolio.
Forecasting of the prices of various commodities (industrial, energy and precious metals).
Participating in new product development (e.g., funding/support schemes).
Representing the companys Research and Information Department at industry/sector specific fora.
Participating in economic research projects of a varied nature, including research that is oriented towards socioeconomic development, regional development, value chain development and/or cluster development.
Supervising research projects undertaken by other researchers, including overall editing and quality control.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Honours degree in economics (or equivalent commercial qualification) followed by a related qualification at the Masters level (e.g. M. Commerce; M. Arts (Economics); MBA).
5 to 7 years relevant and solid experience, preferably within an economic research environment.
