The South African College of Applied Psychology (SACAP) is the leading independent provider of education in psychology, counselling and coaching, offering accredited undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications.


SACAP is looking for a Programme Researcher for our Head Office, based nationally at either of SACAP's Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg or Pretoria campus.

The Programme Researcher holds an institutional function in assisting and advising the Academic Department in the Initiation, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling and Closing of New Programme Application Projects across Faculties.


The Programme Researcher works in close partnership with the Academic Dean, the Academic Manager, the Heads of Faculty, the Heads of Teaching and Learning, and collaboratively with other institutional departments, in fulfilment of duties and responsibilities.


Responsibilities:

The Programme Researcher will be responsible for the following areas:



Academic Department:

Programme Feasibility/Exploratory Research:


  • Conducts research on the feasibility and viability of key projects being managed by the Academic Department
  • Administers and implements research projects from the early planning stages to project completion
  • Communicates with key stakeholders to verify that all projects and tasks are on schedule
  • Ensures that research projects remain on schedule and are completed within the set timeframes
  • Generates reports that highlight Background to the particular project; Methodologies used in research; Key findings and Discussion points
  • Recommendations and future opportunities
  • Forms a good working relationship with various key stakeholders throughout the organization


New Programme Applications:

Research, Development, Collation and Submission:


  • Enhancing efficiency of research processes

REC:

Engagement with REC Activities and Research Assessment:


  • Member of the SACAP REC
  • Review postgraduate research proposals as a member of the REC
  • Act as an assessor of Honours research poster presentations
  • Act as a second examiner for Masters Mini-Dissertations as and when needed

General:


  • Contributes to the termly Academic Quality Assurance report
  • SACAP Meeting Attendance:
  • Presentation of Results
  • Monthly Staff Meeting
  • Senate where required

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Minimum of a Master's degree with a depth, breadth, and range of experience in Higher Education
  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in Regulatory Management, Quality Assurance, Programme Application Development and Submission, Teaching, Learning Design and Curriculum Development for Higher Education
  • Minimum of 5 years' administrative experience, with at least 2 of these years being in Higher Education
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience supervising research at a postgraduate level (both at an NQF Level 8 and 9)

The role will report directly to the Senior Programme Researcher (Academic Dean's Office).


Operating Hours
This is a full-time position operating from Mondays to Fridays*:
Monday to Thursday: 08:30am to 17:00pm

Friday: 08:30am to 16:00pm

  • Due to the nature of this role, there will be a need to work flexible hours to the extent to_ which it is reasonably necessary to perform the duties of the position._
