  • Assist and advise the company during internal dispute resolutions and/or conflict
  • Follow a thorough investigation process when resolving labour matters through proactive consultation.
  • Ensure that all internal disputes are resolved withing 72 hours
  • Proactively consult and advise line managers on labour matters, labour procedures and labour compliance.
  • Be able to interpret the Basics Conditions of Employment Act, the Labour Relations Act, Sectoral Determinations and various other Collective Agreements/Main Agreements and national acts and adapt them to the Firma Solutions environment.
  • Liaison with the Department of Labour, Bargaining Councils, Union Officials and other stakeholders.
  • Updating and creating IR policies that are relevant and aligned to legislation
  • Training of line managers on initiating, chairing a disciplinary hearing etc
  • Awareness of Education of IR related matters to the business
  • Weekly reporting on labour statistics
  • Ensuring that there is thorough preparedness when initiating internal cases (prepping of witnesses, creating open and closing arguments and case bundles).
  • Ensuring that line managers are thoroughly prepared if they are acting as initiators.
  • CCMA cases to the thoroughly prepared for at least 72 hours prior to a case being heard (bundles and preparing of witnesses etc to be arranged in advance of the case)
  • All IR admin related to strikes, retrenchments, union meetings and wage negotiations to be managed effectively and efficiently.
  • All IR documents to be saved on SAGE
  • Preparing for and representing the company during conciliation and arbitration proceedings at the CCMA or Bargaining Council.
  • Conduct retrenchments, grievances meetings and employee counselling sessions and advise the company on the process thereof
  • Liaison with the Department of Labour, Bargaining Councils, Union Officials and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:


  • 3 year tertiary qualification in HR/ER.Labour Management or related field.
  • Min 3 5 years' experience in labour relations
  • Critical skills : Communication (written and spoken
  • English), planning, organising and coordinating, good timekeeping, decisive thinking abilities, ability to work under pressure and strong writing skills).
  • Familiar with NBCEI advantageous
  • At least 4 years' experience as a Labour Specialist
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with labour legislation, collective agreements and CCMA proceedings
