AN INTERNATIONAL LEADER IN THE HEALTH & FITNESS SECTOR REQUIRES THE SERVICES OF AN EXTRA-ORDINARY DATA ANALYST TO JOIN ITS CURRENT STAFF COMPLEMENT AT THE HEAD OFFICE SITUATED IN BELLVILLE, CAPE TOWN.


The ideal incumbent for the role will be a highly numerate person who has a solid technical base and possesses an appreciation for numbers, understanding the value that can be derived from analyzing data and adding value through solutions.


The company's data analyst will be required to take on tasks that involve the accumulation, recording and connecting of data as efficiently as possible, using an API, a database or information from a web page and using BI and advanced Excel skills to connect different platforms to produce accurate and informative reports.

The incumbents work should generate unique insights that can be used in complex decision-making, for innovation and overall growth of the business.


The company's data analyst will report to the Financial Director while also collaborating with the various departments in the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities


Responsibilities:


  • Provide leadership of all tasks relating to data collection and insights, collaborating with all departments and ensuring that data is gathered in an accurate, evidenced, and usable format.
  • Develop data reputation by providing high quality data insights on time and with accuracy.
  • Conceptualize, define and deliver new reports, as well as improving existing ones.
  • Analysis of data from various sources to ensure that the Business acts proactively on the information at its disposal.
  • Continually searching for new and useful ways to obtain, integrate and analyse data that is relevant to the Company's business model.
  • Provide input to highlevel communication, proposals, presentations, and reports using data visualizations.
  • Identify trends in existing data and consider implications of these to the organization, raising risk concerns to the Programme team as soon as they are identified.
  • Lead the gathering, assimilation and data outputs needed to track achievement for all quarterly reports and meetings.
  • Any other ad hoc duties assigned by management and/or leadership.
  • Facilitate the collection of accurate and timely data and evidence by building data management tools.
  • Create consolidated databases, processes, and procedures for data.
  • Detects data irregularities and inconsistencies, recognizing risks and mitigating where necessary.
  • Convert complex data and findings into understandable tables, graphs, and written reports.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly and annual trend Analysis.
  • Streamline and optimize business processes through data driven activity.
  • Develop processes for effective data analysis.
  • Share knowledge of data management tools with teams, guiding them to successfully manage their data and information.
  • Visualize data in a format that is accessible to all.

Attributes required:

  • Analytical and datadriven with a demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically.
  • Application of strong commercial insights in order to interpret, simulate and model customer behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to weave a coherent, compelling narrative around the available data. Experience presenting to Senior Management.
  • Selfguided learner, selfstarter, and curious and passionate about data.
  • Ability to work independently, productively, proactively and follow through on all responsibilities to bring projects to a successful conclusion.
  • Ability to translate business needs and goals into analytic approach and response.
  • Ability to work on and prioritise multiple projects that will impact the business at various levels.

Prerequisites for the role:

  • Matric
  • Related qualification (Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Data Science or similar)
  • Experience with digital analytical software (PowerBI and advanced Excel knowledge)
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in data analysis
  • SQL database and Python knowledge (advantageous)
