Description
Make sure all execution of technical work is carried out in a safe manner.

  • Organize the workplace and documentation according to the 5S standards.
  • Give feedback on the maintenance plans from own experience and the experience of the technicians.
  • Plan in consultation with the team leader PM technicians and 3rd parties to carry out preventative maintenance.
  • Prepare spare parts and all other resources to carry out preventative maintenance.
  • Pre plan maintenance day, follow progress during the maintenance day, evaluate maintenance day and come up with improvements.
  • Prioritize work orders together with TL, Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Engineers.
  • Register all activities in the ERP system.

PLANNING ELEMENT MAINTENANCE SYSTEMS

  • Analyse machinery and component life cycles by identifying failure trends
  • Verifying integrity of data captured by artisans/Techncians on a daily basis
  • Updating job cards and maintenance schedules based on OEM manuals based on the input from the Engineering Manager & Maintenance Manager, Engineer, and historical performance
  • Dives forward all business processes related to Preventive & Reactive Maintenance
  • Periodically reviews and improves existing asset trees removing duplication and obsolescence and drives standardisation.
  • Reviews existing maintenance schedules, removing duplication and obsolescence and drives standardisation.
  • If applicable, develops and updates Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Writes clear and concise Work Procedures, as required by Engineering team
  • Plays a key role in maintaining the site Asset Register

PLANNING
Planning maintenance activities and co-ordination of maintenance activities including annual shutdown and daily ad-hoc work

  • Proactively assesses Engineering Workload on a weekly basis, liaising with various Engineering and Production stakeholders to ensure that maintenance plans are realistic, are adequately resourced and plant downtime is appropriately and effectively planned
  • Ensures that all Work Orders / Job Cards are reviewed with the following in mind:
  • Effective scope identified
  • Resources appropriately allocated
  • Durations are realistic and accurate
  • Spares and specialist tools required are available
  • Drives outage and Shutdown planning activities
  • Communicates with Contractors resources (SLAs and otherwise) on specific Work Orders (Not responsible for managing Contractors but ensures that Work Order details are clearly communicated and understood)
  • Facilitates daily and weekly work planning meetings with Maintenance, Operations, Stores and other supporting departments
  • Plays an active role in maintaining legal registers and driving compliance.
  • Planning and optimising the most appropriate maintenance tasks for relevant equipment
  • Reviews selected schedules for high priority equipment and cleans up maintenance tasks.

REPORTING
Analysis and interpretation of maintenance history and feedback report preparation

  • Maintains appropriate records to permit the meaningful analysis and reporting of results and compiles reports from the CMMS on a weekly and monthly basis regarding:
  • Work Order / Job Card compliance (overall site and per department)
  • Breakdowns (No. of and percentage RCAs completed)
  • Resource Utilisation (overall site and per department)
  • Maintenance Effort (maintenance wrench time evaluation per Work Order / Job Card types)
  • Maintenance backlog (maintains < 1 month's backlog)
  • Pareto analysis for Top Breakdowns (monthly and annually)
  • Coordination and tracking / record keeping of resources related to Overtime, Callouts, Standby, etc. Corrective (Breakdown) Maintenance related activities.
  • Monitor job completion rates and report trends to the Engineering management team.

SPARES MANAGEMENT

  • Working with Stores to manage spare part usage to maximize turns but minimise risk of using critical spares
  • Supports the process to periodically review Net Working Capital and make decisions regarding optimisation
  • Ensures that all Spares are catalogued into Stores (no Satellite Spares)

BUDGET ADHERENCE

  • Develop cost and time estimates of planned maintenance work
  • Drive tracking of actual versus budget spend, with indication of high spend areas

MAINTENANCE STRATEGIES
Manage preventative and predictive maintenance strategies, which will include condition monitoring and other practices. Included in Point 2 above


COORDINATION

  • Ensure ongoing communication with Engineering, Team Leaders, Production Managers and Production Planner
  • Work closely with engineering stores personnel to control spares and stock levels.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Projects - work closely with the project team to ensure efficient delivery of tasks involving engineering input.
