An Exciting opportunity exists to join The Nandos People Department as GM: People Operations, HRSS, and BI


The GM:

People Operations, HRSS, and BI is accountable for the design, implementation, and monitoring of an effective People Operations, HRSS, and BI plan across Nando's Corporate Owned and Operated Casas in South Africa.

The role will also be responsible for supporting and enabling the Franchise business to ensure people practices are consistently applied and overall governance maintained.


Minimum Requirements:


  • NQF level 7 or equivalent qualification (Human Resources/ Industrial Psychology)
  • Knowledge of labour legislation and HR best practices (Advanced)
  • Knowledge of relevant HR methodologies and approaches (Advanced)
  • Knowledge of the restaurant industry (Intermediate)
  • Talent Acquisition (Advanced)
  • Microsoft Office skills (Advanced)
  • Coaching and mentoring skills (Advanced)
  • Training and facilitation skills (Intermediate)
  • Knowledge of HR systems, preferably S-Cubed (Advanced)
  • Knowledge of budget management (Intermediate)
years of generalist Senior HR Management experience

  • Strong experience in Employee Relations
  • 23 years of HRIS management and data experience
  • Previous FMCG, Hospitality, or Retail experience
  • Experience working in a field HR position, travelling to multiple locations

Duties and Responsibilities:


Design, Implement and Manage the National People Operations Plan across Operations and Central Support

  • Design and roll out a national People Operations Plan as aligned to the business strategy
  • Monitor and track the implementation of the People strategy and business strategy
  • Responsible for governing and developing the relevant People policies, practices, and principles, including the identification of potential gaps
  • Coordinate and align business activity to the People Operations Plan
  • Provide guidance to the team and review the Nandoca Communication Forum (NCF), ensuring that they take place according to plan within the regions and OHS compliance is adhered to

Management of Shared Services

  • Identifies new service offerings that may be required and designs approaches
  • Collaborates and manages shared services with external providers to ensure effective service and delivery to the business in line with SLAs
  • Enable GMs and HRBPs to run relevant People initiatives and programs within their respective regions
  • Proactively engage with GMs to grow and develop relationships
  • Provide input through close collaboration with People Leaders to create and design coordinated programs in accordance with the People Strategy

Reward and Goal management

  • Manage and monitor the reward and recognition strategy and plan across the business in support of the Remcom Charter
  • Design and develop job profiles to support the job evaluation for input into salary benchmarking processes
  • Ensure compliance with the minimum wage/salaries as aligned to the applicable Bargaining Council agreements / national minimum wage or Companydefined pay scales (depending on role)
  • Support the implementation of reward and recognition programs across the business
  • Support the execution of the performance management program to the business to facilitate targeted and aligned goal setting to support business objectives
  • Support the ongoing education of Nandoca regarding goal setting and performance management across the business

Governance and Compliance

  • Define, implement, and monitor the adherence to people's policies and procedures
  • Define the employee relations framework and identification of employee risk areas
  • Implement relevant People policies and procedures, ensuring that these are effectively communicated and understood
  • Manage escalations relating to noncompliance issues across the business

System Process Enablement and Usage

  • Design, implement, and enforce processes to govern system usage
  • Map out new processes based on business requirements and advise on implementation and rollout
  • Review proposed HRIS systems updates and proposals to support the automation agenda
  • Provide input to People processes that impact the HRIS and support any system developments, including testing, feedback, and implementation planning
  • Review suggestions relating to changes to be made to the system to support business

Reporting and BI

  • Develop and execute Talent, Systems and People operations reporting as and when required, managing the consistency of information
  • Maintain accurate and integrated People reporting across business to drive insights for better business decision making
  • Analyse HR metrics across business s and identify Regional and National trends within Casa Operations and Central Support
