Job Advert Summary:


The Human and Social Capabilities research programme within the HSRC employs a multi-disciplinary group of social scientists and public health specialists who conduct numerous empirical and policy-related studies each year, three-quarters of which are donor-funded.

The Human and Social Capabilities division conducts transdisciplinary, intersectional, policy and programme-relevant research to improve health, well-being and promote a socially just and cohesive society.


The HSC programme seeks to appoint a dynamic individual with a Matric and a relevant post-matric qualification in fields such as Office Management or Administration will be advantageous; and a 3-year appropriate administrative experience.

The incumbent will work and support the HSC dynamic team of researchers, and other divisional administrators in the HSRC community.

The incumbent will be based in the
Pretoria office.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Minimum of a degree/diploma in social sciences or administration;
  • High level of computer literacy, especially in the MS office Suite-MS Word, Excel, Access and Project and database management;
  • Previous experience in providing funding support in a large institution;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively to demanding deadlines;
  • Excellent writing, personal and professional communication and analytical skills;
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently;
  • High personal motivation, selfmanagement, and attention to detail;
  • Ability to work under pressure and after hours when

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Scan and identify the donor environment for relevant funding opportunities in line with the HSRC's strategy;
  • Search, select and summarize information on funding opportunities advertised in printed and electronic media;
  • Develop a database of prospective funders and donors;
  • Capture funding opportunities on the Proposal Tracking system;
  • Source and complete funding documents;
  • Collate and package tender documents;
  • Provide logístical support for MOU Management for selected research programmes;
  • Provide ongoing support and management of the proposal tracking system
  • Participate in other initiatives and activities of the unit, including supporting general activities undertaken within this
