In this role, as a Facilities Officer, your responsibilities will include maintaining the building to uphold safety standards, ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols, meeting standards, identifying and addressing hazards promptly, and following legislation.

You will also be tasked with proactively maintaining various departmental services such as air-conditioning, smoke detection, security systems, boilers, CCTV, access control, office interiors, exteriors, carpeting, furniture, and furnishings.


You will collaborate with approved contractors to ensure that contracted services like security, maintenance, mail handling, cleaning, catering, waste disposal, and recycling at the Helix premises align with service level agreements.


To excel in this position, you should possess demonstrable knowledge and abilities in building maintenance, experience in dealing with maintenance issues, familiarity with procurement policies and procedures, strong communication skills, proficient in MS Office, and be available after hours if needed.


What you'll be doing

  • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles, organizing deliveries, packing stock, and maintaining the warehouse
  • Reporting accidents, providing resolutions to facilities requests, and ensuring essential services are maintained
  • Liaising with management and end-user departments for layout changes, developing relationships with departments and support teams, and ensuring information security
  • Enforcing the use of personal protective equipment, controlling chemicals and hazardous substances


What you'll need

  • Trade qualification
  • Experience in the relevant field
  • Specialist knowledge in a manual trade such as carpentry or electrical skills
  • Prior exposure to managing suppliers through SLAs and KPIs
  • Clean credit, disciplinary, and criminal records
