Role Purpose/Business Unit:


This role is responsible for driving the integration of technology into the education program and its ecosystem; proactively executing the scaling of the education ecosystem; proactively coordinating the integration of GBV program into the ecosystem with psychosocial support and technology as an integral element, physical monitoring and inspection of the overall education program across all provinces and providing feedback on weaknesses and improvements required.

Proactive internal and external stakeholder management with visibility to these stakeholders.


Your responsibilities will include:


1. Integration of technology into education

  • Understanding of the use of technology as a tool for development in educationn
  • Following trends globally and nationally to ensure technology delivers educational outcomes.
  • Full appreciation of the limitations and directives of the department of basic eduction on the use and implementation of technology in public schools
  • Effective use and leveraging of Vodacom commercial (Vodacom Business, CBU. FTTH, Digital Services) technological innovations to support the education program and activities.
  • A dedicated and clear focus on the education verticals that make up the ecosystem support these vertical with technology and ensuring integration into ecosystem, ie., ECD, teacher centres, eschool, youth academy, school computer labs, virtual classroom, ICT coordinators, connectivity (fixed, satellite, fibre etc)
  • Identify thought leadership opportunities for EAD and CEO on technology as a tool for development in education.
  • Lead researcher and advisor on technology as a tool for development in education
  • Strive for excellence and identify partnership opportunities in technology as tool for development.
  • Collaborate with BBBEE and transformation team including regulatory affairs on compliance with BBBEE and Regulator requirements on school connectivity.
  • Monitor evolution of emerging digital technologies such as AI, big data, cloud, IoT to enhance the education program especially the ecosystem and collaboration with the relevant divisions in this regard within the company

2. Execution of ecosystem:


  • Deep understanding of the education ecosystem and longterm vision
  • Deep understanding of each ecosystem vertical and how it fits into the ecosystem.
  • Fostering partnership and collaboration with the GBV team to ensure the completeness.
  • Full comprehension of the needs of the teacher centres, ECD centres, youth academies, elearning platform, role of ICT coordinators and psychosocial support experts, bright sky app etc
  • Ensuring the integration of bright sky into the ecosystems as a learning and awareness tool
  • Ensure M&E on the ecosystem and the verticals to identify weaknesses and strengths and follow up on weaknesses.
  • Progressively monitor implementation, controlling project costs, and confirming delivery of benefits to target groups (documentary evidence).
  • Ensure project environment is conducive to delivering required results.
  • Ensure adequate resources are allocated to projects.
  • Ensuring board reports for Foundation, VSA board are done professionally and timely and actions are followed through.
  • Driving synergies between social/regulatory obligations on school connectivity, connect for change programs and the ecosystem
  • Ensure follow through on relationship between Vodacom's investment on education with socio economic development

3. Manage stakeholder relationships

  • Continuous analysis of education stakeholders, maintenance of a stakeholder map, profile and engagement plan
  • Follow the government and Vodacom engagement protocols in dealing with external stakeholders for effective reputation management.
  • Identify education issues for stakeholder engagement and the relevant stakeholders
  • In partnership with Public Affairs team, build and maintain active relationships between Vodacom and
(i) Government ministers in relevant departments
(ii) Parliament (National Assembly and National Council of Provinces)
(iii) National Departments
(iv) Provinces - Provincial Departments (9), Metros (8) and District Municipalities
(v) Civil society
(vi) Industry and business partners
(vii) Communities



:


  • Ensure specialists file reports from stakeholder engagements to assist in continuous stakeholder assessment and profiling and follow through on issues.
  • Participate in the stakeholder engagement committee.
  • Monitor national and subordinate policy development on education, budget votes, government policy implementation processes, that have potential impact on Vodacom or the industry
  • In consultation with relevant business units, ensure alignment and awareness between Vodacom's business units with education
  • Participate and lead in relevant forums on education
