What you can expect


The successful incumbent will be responsible for business/customer accounts across all industries that use resins and additives applicable to the business unit's portfolio.

The target market can be broadly described as Coatings, comprising of Industrial, Automotive, Protective and Decorative coating sectors.


Duties will include the following:

  • Truly understand customer needs/ requirements and find the adequate solutions
  • Manage customer portfolio (e.g. Tier 1/2/3, distributor management etc.)
  • Maintain and develop customer relationship
  • Prepare bottomup budget in line with the regional strategies and responsible Business Management
  • Monitor sales budgets, taking corrective action where necessary
  • Accurate and ontime reporting (e.g. visit report, monthly report, forecast, opportunity pipeline etc. according to SBU requirements)
  • Operational guidance and support of the relevant CSO's
  • Collect relevant market intelligence and trends
  • Create, implement and update sales concepts for the relevant industry field(s), taking SBU strategies and the local/sub regional characteristics into account
  • Support the local/regional implementation of crossregional projects, sponsored by BU
  • Compliance with BASF guidelines and procedures
  • Coordinate product and customer interest to achieve longterm customer loyalty

What we expect

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or equivalent qualification in relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Sales and/or Marketing in the coatings industry
  • Experience in working and managing businesses in other African countries (West, East and Southern Africa)
  • Working knowledge with digital tools eg. Salesforce
  • Experience in a global multinational company advantageous
