Commercial and Technical Administrator


Printing SA is an industry body that represent the interests of the printing, packaging, branding, creative design, marketing, and communications industry.

We ensure the industry is sustainable and that all stakeholders and our members prosper.

Printing SA is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced
Commercial and Technical Administrator within the
National Office.

The Commercial and Technical Administrator advises, liaises and consults with:

  • Existing and prospective members of Printing SA and Printing SA staff.
  • National and Local Government Departments (e.g. DEFF, DTIC, DoL, etc.)
  • Statutory bodies (e.g. IEC, ITAC, FP&M SETA, SABS, Productivity SA, International Standards Organisation, ISO Compliance bodies, PROs, etc.)
  • External Law Firms

The primary purpose of this role is:

  • To provide robust, impactful, and thought leadership Commercial Technical services to Printing SA Members and staff.

Description of responsibilities

Key Performance areas Functions/tasks

(KPA's)

1.
PrintSecure Services (20%)

Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and checklists for:

  • Initial inspections
  • Followup inspections
  • Coordinate with the PrintSecure Committee on all new and renewal requests from Members, for PrintSecure accreditation.
  • Coordinate initial auditing (inspection) of the premises with the relevant regional PrintSecure committee member (where applicable, participate in person).
  • Receive and Analyse Initial Inspection checklists and compile reports indicating areas of improvement. Liaise with applicant on findings and areas of improvement (where required).
  • Coordinate follow-up physical review with the relevant regional PrintSecure committee member (where applicable, participate in person) to ensure 100% compliance.
  • Prepare approval and close out report for PrintSecure Committee approval.
  • Issue PrintSecure accreditation certificate
  • Ensure accurate and complete record keeping filing of all documentation for auditing purposes.
  • Ensure annual inspections are diarized with all stakeholders and coordinate accordingly.
  • Maintain PrintSecure records for all past and active PrintSecure accredited businesses.

2.
Commercial Disputes (10%)

  • Receive and keep Record all Commercial Dispute requests.
  • Ensure quotations, invoices and payment are made/received by the relevant parties.
  • Source a Mediator and/or Technical Expert and Coordinate the mediation process with all parties.
  • Source an Arbitrator and/or Technical Expert, and Coordinate the arbitration process with all parties (where necessary)

3. Technical Services (15%)

  • Secure technical expertise to deal with a broad range of member technical queries and technical evaluations.
  • Investigate technical queries raised by members.
  • Advise on governance issues impacting the organisation.

4.
Legislation (35%)

  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry and/or statutory bodies.
  • Review, monitor and keep abreast of all new and updated laws and regulations, legislative and trade changes that impact the printing, packaging, and signage industries.
  • Communicate all relevant legislation and trade changes that impact the industry to staff and members by drafting monthly reports for dissemination to all stakeholders.
  • Attendance and represent Printing SA at various applicable and relevant forums, meeting and/or committees, e.g. Producer Responsibility Organisations, Environmental committee meetings, DEFF waste forum meetings, waste steering committee, Paper PCH PG (PCHPC) committee meetings, SABS TC146/SC 01 & 02 AIR QUALITY and SABS TC0006/SC01 PAPER, BOARD, AND PULPS, African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC), etc.
  • Coordinate requests to address import/export tariffs with the International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC), DTiC and SARS.
  • Utilise professional legal services expertise as and when required.
  • Coordinate the arrangement of information sharing seminars that unpacks pertinent issues impacting industry.

5.
Administration (20%)

  • Develop a communication plan that includes all staff and members.
  • Provide weekly operations and quarterly board reports.
  • Contribute to the departmental annual budget.

Educational requirements
Bachelor's degree with one or all the following majors:

  • law and/or,
- compliance and/or,
- risk


Training Courses:


  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office
  • Risk management

Experience:


  • A minimum of 7 years working experience in a legal, compliance or risk management role.
  • Experience in the printing and packaging industry will be an added advantage.

Legally required competence certificates:


  • Code B drivers' licenceAdditional Travel in South Africa may be required
