The main purpose of the Tour Guide at Birkenhead House is to book and host our guests during a variety of activities, from transfers, to fynbos walks, wine tastings and everything in-between, the Tour Guide is there to ensure we live up to our purpose, which is _"to give our guests a complete experience and a perfect stay"_.

This is a seasonal position, an additional Tour Guide on property during the busier summer months.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Looking for opportunities to sell products and services to our inhouse guests
Conducting drives and transfers in a professional manner
Represent the hotel in the best possible light, always being neat, confident, reliable, friendly and respectful
Constantly innovating to offer new and exciting activities and excursions for our guests
Oversee vehicle maintenance, scheduling and licenses
Live and breath the purpose and value statement of The Royal Portfolio

REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS

Must have at least 2 years experience Guiding for a luxury 5* hotel
Tertiary qualification is an advantage
Recognised South African Tour Guide certification is essential
Current PDP drivers license permit essential
Excellent verbal and written communication
Exceptionally high guest service focus
Vast general knowledge including history, nature, culture, food, beverage, religion, politics and international current affairs
Well presented, prompt, hard working, knowledgeable, friendly and energetic
Must live locally in Hermanus and have good knowledge of local activities, restaurants, venues, etc.

South African citizenship is advantageous. A valid work permit is essential if you are not in possession of a South African ID document.

Please note it is a condition of employment, that all staff undergo a pre-employment polygraph test.
