You'll be based within our Information and Communication Technology division and will report to the Chief Information Officer.


As a member of our team, you will be responsible for heading up the leadership, delivery, and operations of the systems environment which entails the successful implementation of value and strategic based capabilities and product solutions.

This also includes the enhancement and maintenance of existing systems within the software landscape at a high level of quality, within budget and necessary timelines.

Optimise business performance through the modelling and visualization of data for business to make quick decisions daily.

Ensure continuous 24-hour support for all systems and achieve a 90% SLA on all tickets logged by the various business areas with the Application Care team.

Participating in the development of the long-term ICT strategies. Ensuring that the systems remain adaptive to emerging business needs


Qualifications:


  • Matric
  • BSc/BCom with focus on IT/computer science/software engineering would be beneficial
  • Postgraduate Diploma Management or MBA would be beneficial

Your experience:


  • 510 years of Development Manager experience managing complex systems areas & project
implementations across cross functional team/s of Architects, Business Analysts, Product

managers/owners, UX experts and Developers. Intimate understanding of SDLC and extensive

experience in delivery of integrated solutions of meaningful scale.)

  • Software project management/delivery experience
  • Experience with agile and waterfall methodologies

Your Outputs:

  • Report into the CIO, keeping the CIO adequately updated on strategic, high-risk, and
significant projects and EXCO commitments

  • Responsible for overseeing all activities across all ICT teams (Development teams, Data analytics
team and Application care team) and provides guidance to managers to achieve delivery on all

EXCO initiatives, team commitments and SLA's.

  • Participating in the development of the longterm ICT strategies. Ensuring that the systems
remain adaptive to emerging business needs.

  • Representing ICT at change forums and steering committees
  • Participating in Systems EXCO, MANCO and the IT governance forum
  • Understanding and highlighting the business impact and risks associated to the initiatives being
worked on, including recommendations and mitigation possibilities

  • Ensuring the alignment of solution requirements to business requirements/needs
  • Building trust with business stakeholders
  • Contributing to the ICT strategy and technical direction
  • Developing strategies and plans for achieving efficiency and continuous improvement within all
ICT teams

  • Managing IT Governance adherence: policies, processes, and standards
  • Making recommendations for the improvement of policies, processes, standards
  • Managing team concerns such as recruiting, training, driving the skills development of team
managers, coaching managers on career development, communicating job expectations and

appraising their performance (objective setting, feedback, appraisals, bonuses, addressing poor

performance)

  • Coaching and motivate team managers for optimal performance
  • Interfacing with Client Operations, Distribution, Enterprise Architecture and Actuarial teams
where required

  • Interfacing to external third parties
  • Management of all phases of the SDLC
  • Act as a Programme Manager on all initiatives
