Role Objective:


  • Responsible for developing, implementing and Managing organizational safety programs according to legal guidelines. Conduct risk assessments to detect potential hazards and plan precautionary measures,

Minimum Requirements:

***- Qualification in Health & Safety and Environmental Management to at least NQF level - At least 5 years relevant experience in FMCG or Manufacturing industry.

  • Indepth knowledge of OSH Act, ISO and ISO 14000.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS word and MS Excel computer skills.
  • High level of English language proficiency, both written and verbal.
  • Be able to read, understand and follow work instructions/procedures.
  • Motivated self starter.
  • Ability to work alone.
  • Observant and be able to take the initiative.
  • Attention to details.
  • Able to work under pressure and sometimes outside normal business hours.

Key Responsibilities include the following:
_(not exclusively)_*****- Support Senior Management in the Health, Safety and Environmental (EHS) Policy and Guidelines issue.

  • Conduct root cause analysis investigation and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure, in accordance with the corporate guidelines, the implementation, updating, review and auditing of the Company EHS Systems
  • Monitor the effective implementation of appropriate Safety and Environment System procedures and provide for their updating in line with changes in Legislation and Company Directives.
  • Inculcate the culture of respecting the importance of complying with Company system procedures and all Safety equipment provided.
  • Assists the Operations Department in their dealings with Clients in all issues concerned with Health and Safety.
  • Conduct safety audits both internal and external.
  • Take part in accident / incident investigation
  • Carry out analysis of accident / incident statistics, identifying trends and suggest improvement plans.
  • Carry out any inhouse safety training.
  • Carry out safety audits on Subcontractors.
  • Provide Safety support and advice, including supervision on preparation of plans and procedures for initial contract start up activities.
  • Oversee the administration of all IOD cases.
  • Immediately stop any activity which is unsafe and recommend remedial action.
  • Ensure safety notices required by law and under statutory or site regulation are installed and displayed.
