Role Objective:
- Responsible for developing, implementing and Managing organizational safety programs according to legal guidelines. Conduct risk assessments to detect potential hazards and plan precautionary measures,
Minimum Requirements:
***- Qualification in Health & Safety and Environmental Management to at least NQF level - At least 5 years relevant experience in FMCG or Manufacturing industry.
- Indepth knowledge of OSH Act, ISO and ISO 14000.
- Intermediate to advanced MS word and MS Excel computer skills.
- High level of English language proficiency, both written and verbal.
- Be able to read, understand and follow work instructions/procedures.
- Motivated self starter.
- Ability to work alone.
- Observant and be able to take the initiative.
- Attention to details.
- Able to work under pressure and sometimes outside normal business hours.
Key Responsibilities include the following:
_(not exclusively)_*****- Support Senior Management in the Health, Safety and Environmental (EHS) Policy and Guidelines issue.
- Conduct root cause analysis investigation and implement corrective actions
- Ensure, in accordance with the corporate guidelines, the implementation, updating, review and auditing of the Company EHS Systems
- Monitor the effective implementation of appropriate Safety and Environment System procedures and provide for their updating in line with changes in Legislation and Company Directives.
- Inculcate the culture of respecting the importance of complying with Company system procedures and all Safety equipment provided.
- Assists the Operations Department in their dealings with Clients in all issues concerned with Health and Safety.
- Conduct safety audits both internal and external.
- Take part in accident / incident investigation
- Carry out analysis of accident / incident statistics, identifying trends and suggest improvement plans.
- Carry out any inhouse safety training.
- Carry out safety audits on Subcontractors.
- Provide Safety support and advice, including supervision on preparation of plans and procedures for initial contract start up activities.
- Oversee the administration of all IOD cases.
- Immediately stop any activity which is unsafe and recommend remedial action.
- Ensure safety notices required by law and under statutory or site regulation are installed and displayed.
