JOB OVERVIEW

This Head:

IT Strategy & Enterprise Architecture execution role is seen as one of the CIO's trusted partners in leading IT to become a business-oriented organization.

The position reports to the CIO and serves as the second in command of the BITS organization, responsible for managing the office of the CIO (OCIO), providing leadership for the cross-functional management of information and technology across the enterprise.

It will oversee functions such as IT strategy & enterprise architecture, governance, performance & quality management and the definition of IT ways of working (for example, common methodologies, processes, and tools for developing and operating IT).- The position focuses on ensuring that the IT organization "does the right things" through strategy and governance, as well as "doing things right" through organizational and operational model development and performance management.

Innovation and automation are also key to this role.- This role may be based in C
ape Town (Bellville) or Johannesburg (Sandton).



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Partners with the CIO in providing technology vision and direction for the enterprise.
  • Works with the CIO and business leadership team, providing broad insight to IT domains and capabilities in support of enterprise wide business decisions.
  • Is responsible for driving focus and prioritization within the IT organization through establishing strategic planning and governance principles and processes.
  • Oversees the execution of highimpact, enterprise wide, strategic programs, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Stays current with developments in new market trends and innovations in technology and the leadership of enterprise IT.
  • Assumes full CIO responsibilities (or those responsibilities as directed) during the CIO's absence.
  • Manages the team of people who make up the office of the CIO.
  • Oversees the development and maintenance of IT policies, procedures, methodologies, and governance — as well as performance management frameworks and metrics — to ensure the IT organization delivers value to the enterprise.
  • May be responsible for developing and managing strategic vendor and partnership relationships.
  • May oversee IT workforce strategy development and management, including the sourcing, training, and development of staff.
  • Establishes and implements continuous improvement programs for the IT organization.
  • Drives and facilitates effective collaboration and communications between the IT organization and the user and customer communities.
  • Is responsible for directing the preparation, review and consolidation of business plans and budgets for the IT organization.
  • May regularly review IT costs and cost structures for IT services and products so that the financial implications of IT projects and activities are communicated to the proper IT and business executives.
  • May direct risk evaluation and compliance management processes.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • MBA or equivalent advantageous
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in IT leadership and operations management.
  • Experience with IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
  • IT Service Management Framework certification is advantageous.
  • Previous Office of the CIO experience or EA or C and C suite position in Technology
  • COBIT knowledge or other frameworks like TOGAF
