Our client in the Healthcare sector is looking to employ a Clinical Training Specialist (Theatre) to be responsible for the facilitation of teaching and learning of the theoretical and clinical component in a clinical environment to reinforce the learning process as well as the integration of theory and practice.

Key Performance Areas:
The Clinical Training Specialist will undertake activities designed to maximize nursing staff's clinical learning by:
- Taking a student-centred approach, being patient and supportive of ongoing staff development and learning
- Clearly and consistently communicating expectations of staff while on practicum
- Becoming familiar with the mission of the School of Nursing and the health care facilities in which clinical facilitation is undertaken
- To assist staff learning in the clinical setting the facilitator's responsibilities include:
- Liaising with health facility /service staff to provide opportunities for the staff to meet the relevant unit objectives
- Assisting staff with their development of communication, problem solving, clinical and professional skills
- To use listening, interpersonal, and pastoral care skills to deal with sensitive issues concerning staff and provide support
- To act as a personal tutor, giving first line support.
- To refer students as appropriate to services providing further support.
- To liaise with and assist others in the administration and management of modules, programmes, and other learning activities.
- To contribute to the administration of any academic programme
- As module leader or programme leader, coordinate with others (such as support staff or academic colleagues) to ensure staff needs and expectations are met.
- Manage projects relating to own area of work and the organisation of external activities such as placements and field trips.
- Act as a responsible team member, leading where agreed, and develop productive working relationships with other members of staff.
- Coordinate the work of colleagues to identify and respond to staff needs.
- Develop research objectives, projects and proposals.
- Conduct individual or collaborative research projects.
- Identify sources of funding and contribute to the process of securing funds.
COMPETENCIES (The following will be advantageous)
(Educational Qualifications & Experience):
- A Bachelor's degree in Nursing Science.
- Post graduate qualification in Operating Theatre
- A master's degree (specialty area/ education) and or working towards.
- Clinical expertise in Operating Theatre
- A registered nurse with a minimum of 3 years current and broad clinical nursing experience.
- An unrestricted, current annual practice license certificate issued by the South African Nursing Council (SANC) ,
- Experience in clinical education/teaching of undergraduate nursing students, or other relevant teaching experience.

Salary:
From R30,000.00 per month
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Durban, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
