As a Maintenance Mechanical Fitter, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing facility by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment.

Qualifications:


  • Matric / Equivalent
  • Red Seal qualification as a Mechanical Fitter

Experience and Requirements:


  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment and machinery in accordance with maintenance schedules and specifications
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, identifying the root causes and implementing effective repair solutions
  • Repair or replace defective mechanical components, such as motors, bearings, belts, gears, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential equipment failures and ensure optimal performance
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to plan and execute maintenance projects, including equipment installations and upgrades
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and parts inventory
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others
  • Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and recommend inventory levels based on equipment needs
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior maintenance technicians as needed
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements related to automotive maintenance

Duties & responsibilities

  • Red Seal Trade Tested in mechanical maintenance is essential
  • At least 3 years proven experience as a Maintenance Mechanical Fitter in the automotive industry or a similar manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including motors, pumps, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems accurately and efficiently
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance
  • Familiarity with maintenance tools, equipment, and techniques
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to work in shifts or respond to emergency maintenance situations when required
