Description:


  • The main purpose of this position is ensuring the overall efficacy of the plant and management of the production staff, ensuring that shift targets are met and quality standards are adhered to.
  • Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Key Performance Areas
  • 1. Production responsibilities
  • 2. Stock control and supply chain responsibilities
  • 3. Accounting responsibilities
  • 4. Health & Safety responsibilities
  • 5. Other
  • 1. Production responsibilities
- i. Ensure that all employees carry out their duties in accordance with their job description,
- ii. Supervise and motivate staff to work productively, ensuring that targets are achieved and quality standards adhered to,
- iii. Liaise with the Project Planner to determine production plans and shift targets
- iv. Ensure that each operator completes their shift sheet accurately and submit the batch to the Production Clerk (electronically) at the end of each shift,
- v. Provide valid reasons for all variances e.g. targets not met, sprayer grammages out of the normal range,
- vi. Keep record of all incidents that occur during the shift, this includes
- a. Rejects produced
- b. Machine or operator downtime
- c. Staffing issues
- d. Quality issues
- e. Keeping the General Manager informed about all incidents
- vii. Ensure that all batch control/quality checks are being done at each process,
- viii. Liaise with HR should any staffing issues arise,
- ix. Ability to work in the capacity of an operator if production requires,
- x. Ensure all machinery and equipment is cleaned and maintained,
- xi. Notify the GM on any maintenance issues that arise, and parts/consumables required,
- xii. Attend to machine breakdowns and/or maintenance timeously, and
- xiii. Ensure that the oven operators are fulfilling all responsibilities.

  • 2. Stock control and supply chain responsibilities
  • Stock Control
- i. Ensure that there is sufficient coating material to produce the desired output and liaise
- with Supply Chain Manager should more stock be required,
- ii. Perform monthly week stocktakes of all consumables and coating material,
- iii. Control the receipt and issuing of all the consumables and stock,

  • Supply chain
- iv. Perform a verification count on all pans received and capture the details on- v. Control the movement of pans throughout the production flow,
- vi. Liaise with the supply chain manager when transport needs to be booked for dispatches,
- vii. Perform verification counts on the number of pans prior to dispatching,
- viii. Ensure that each pallet has a pallet label with the correct customer details, and
- ix. Communicate timeously when supplier needs to collect reject stock

  • 3. Accounting responsibilities
- i. Ensure that waybills are accurately completed e.g. Customer name, SO reference, PO reference, Quantity and type of product dispatched, and
  • 4. Health & Safety responsibilities
- i. Ensure that all operators are wearing his/ her protective clothing, this includes gloves, masks and safety shoes,
- ii. In the case of an accident, report it to the dedicated first aider and GM,
- iii. Ensure that the correct safety signs are on display and visible to operators, and
- iv. Reinforce safety standards continuously.

  • 5. Other
- i. Attend to site visits when requested to do so,
- ii. Ensure that the company vehicle is maintained, this includes regular maintenance, renewal of car licensing and maintaining an updated logbook.
- iii. Daily submission of team members' timesheets.

  • Criteria:
  • Completed relevant tertiary qualification
  • Min 5 years experience in the above role and duties
  • Manufacturing sector experience essential
  • Strong staff supervisory skills
  • Strong IT skills and understanding of accounts
  • Stable track record with excellent references
  • Valid code 08 license & own transport
  • Able to work shifts as required
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans
