As part of their team, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the seamless operation of this Safari Lodge while surrounded by the wonders of the African wilderness.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in overseeing all aspects of lodge maintenance, including water reticulation, boreholes, sewage systems, refrigeration, and electrical reticulation.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure the integrity and functionality of high and low voltage systems.
  • Utilize formal education and expertise in areas such as air conditioning, plumbing, carpentry, construction, and electrics to address maintenance needs effectively.
  • Adhere to and enforce NOSA safety standards to promote a safe working environment for all staff and guests.
  • Manage gas installations, including gas geysers, stoves, and multibraais, in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Hold a valid driver's license (preferably with a PDP) and utilize it for transportation and logístical needs related to maintenance duties.
  • Embrace a developmental approach to staff, providing training, guidance, and mentorship to promote skill development and professional growth.
  • Exhibit strong leadership and delegation skills to effectively manage maintenance team members and tasks.
  • Utilize negotiation skills to procure necessary materials, services, and equipment at competitive prices while maintaining quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with citizenship or valid working visa requirements for employment in South Africa.

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Extensive operational knowledge and experience in maintenance fields, particularly water reticulation, boreholes, sewage systems, refrigeration, and electrical reticulation.
  • Formal education or certifications in areas such as air conditioning, plumbing, carpentry, construction, and electrics.
  • Familiarity with NOSA safety standards and protocols.
  • Experience with gas installations, including geysers, stoves, and multibraais.
  • Valid driver's license, preferably with a PDP.
  • Proven track record of leadership, delegation, and staff development.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Citizenship or valid working visa for employment in South Africa.
